I'd like to opt out of the Hawks and take a shot at the random draft.

I'll throw in my name to this league. Can't hurt. If no one else signs up and I'm the odd guy at 17, then no worries. Willy was bugging me to sign up here for the longest time (also, why's he no longer helping out/co-commish?)

Please fill out the following application in order to be considered for the league:

Name: Cally
Fantrax ID: RC_NYR
E-Mail: fantasysportsaccount@hotmail.com
Have you previously been in a contract based dynasty league?  YES
Are you willing to be in the league for the long haul?  YES
Are you willing to log in at least once every 48 hours?  More like 12hrs![/b]

To answer your question, Willy seems to have left the site. Hasn't been on since mid-April

And I assume the order would be by standings from real life? Or would draft rookie order get randomized?

Will we for sure be doing a rookie draft? Or would the team we take have their rookies on it?

I'd be fine with either team selection criteria.

Then you get that team's roster and the 1 free drop

Then all the player's left over from unpicked teams (or those that are dropped), you just operate it like regular FA. Don't really like blind bidding for all FAs.

10 of the most interesting 'Facts & Stats' in MLB today...

By: Fantasy Furnace...

With the major league baseball season about a quarter over as we head towards the Memorial Day Weekend, we came up with some interesting facts and stats that you may (or may not) be aware of. They are random and shouldn't have too much bearing on your rosters as they're just here to hopefully make you say, "Wow, I didn't know that!" We featured this last season and it was a huge success so back by popular demand, here are some of this season's most interesting facts & stats...

DID YOU KNOW as of Saturday, May 25th, 2013...

1. That 34 year old Vernon Wells and 35 year old Carlos Beltran have more home runs (20) so far this season than Jay Bruce, Josh Hamilton and Ryan Howard...combined (each has 6)?

2. That in their last four games, the Baltimore Orioles have hit 13 home runs?

3. That Yankees DH Travis Hafner, who doesn't play everyday, has the third most RBIs on the team?

4. That David Price. Matt Cain, Roy Halladay, Josh Johnson and Josh Beckett ALL have ERAs above 5.00?

5. That SP Jason Marquis leads the National League with 28 walks but is just 2 wins shy of Jordan Zimmerman and Matt Moore  who lead the major leagues in wins with 8?

6. That  Jimmy Rollins, Denard Span, and Drew Stubbs combined, have less stolen bases than Everth Cabrera (18)?

7. That Kevin Kouzmanoff is the only player to hit a grand slam home run on the very first pitch he ever saw as a major leaguer? It was done against Edison Volquez in the 1st inning vs the Texas Rangers on September 2, 2006.

8. That SP Brandon McCarthy has given up just one run over his last three games (24 innings)?

9. That Baltimore’s Chris Davis leads the major leagues in homes runs with 16 and that Manny Machado, also of the Orioles, leads the majors with 21 doubles?

10. That on May 22, Mike Trout hit for the cycle, a feat accomplished by under 300 players in the history of MLB? He was the youngest to do so in the A.L. at 21 years, 9 months, and 16 days. Mel Ott who achieved the cycle in 1929 at age 20 — is the youngest overall.

This article was brought to you by Facebook Status where you can check your Daily Facebook Status when posting about :Commish: ProFSL!

The 5th Down Blog is designed to help you, the fantasy owner, on whom to start, sit, and who we pick as a sleeper for the week. Each week, we will take turns doing a position for the week. Feedback is always welcome as we love to discuss football!

Quarterback - Billy

Must Start: Tom Brady :NE: vs :JAC:
Brady will look to rebound after throwing 2 INTs last week against :SFO: and what better team to rebound against than a horrible Jaguars defense. Brady will have a field day against their defense throwing for at least 250 yards and 2 TDs.

Must Sit: Russell Wilson :SEA-NFL: vs :SFO:
Wilson has been impressive thus far but will hit a wall known as the 49ers defense this weekend. The 49ers don't give up a lot of yards to opposing offenses and that should continue this weekend.

Sleeper: Greg McElroy :NYJ: vs :SDG:
McElroy gets the nod this week over Mark Sanchez against an underachieving Chargers team. He won't light it up but could still have a solid game against San Diego

Running Back - JMAC

Must Start: Adrian Peterson :MIN-NFL: vs :HOU-NFL:
IS there any doubt that he is THE must start player period at this stage. Chip on his shoulder and going for the record. Over 1300 yards in his last 8 games, enough said. He will do what he does, period!!!!
Other Must Starts- Alfred Morris, WAS vs PHI, CJ Spiller, BUF vs MIA

Must Sit: Chris Johnson :TEN: vs :GB:
I know he looked to have a good game last week but that one 94 yd td run was all he did, other than that he was limited to less than 2 ypc. Look for GB to shut him down and keep on rolling.
Other Must Sits- Trent Richardson, CLE vs DEN, Beanie Wells, AZ vs CHI

Sleeper: Vick Ballard :IND: vs :KAN:
Had his first 100 yard game last week and this is a clinching playoff berth game for IND, so look for them to put up a solid game plan with Ballard getting his work in vs a suspect KC def.

Wide Receivers - Mike

Must Start: Dez Bryant :DAL: vs
88 has been living up to the hype as of late, has he finally figured it all out? Who knows, but he's fighting through injury, and making the big catches, the Boys are starting to click.

Must Sit: Michael Crabtree :SFO: vs :SEA-NFL:
On the Crabtree bandwagon after his big game in Boston? Well jump now, he does nothing against the Seahawks and their big physical corners.

Sleeper: Jeremy Kerley :NYJ: vs :SDG:
So the Jets finally decide to let the sound, yet vanilla McElroy play ball, it's going to be a good thing for the Jets pass catchers, even Braylon Edwards might make an appearance.

Tight Ends - Eric

Must Start: Tony Gonzalez :ATL-NFL: vs :DET-NFL:
This year has been much nicer to Gonzalez owners with 8 TD's and almost 900 yds. This week shouldn't be any different. The Lions have allowed 6 TD's over the past 8 weeks. Feel free to deploy Gonzo as you normally would.

Must Sit: Jermaine Gresham :CIN-NFL: vs :PIT-NFL:
While Gresham has been a solid option over the past few weeks, this week he has a tough matchup. The Steelers have been really good against opposing TE in allowing the 3rd least fantasy points. They have allowed 5 TD all year and allowed over 70 yds in just ONE week (last week vs Dallas). Look else where if possible.

Sleeper: Kyle Rudolph :MIN-NFL: vs :HOU-NFL:
Although Rudolph has been relatively quiet over the past few week, this he week he has a good matchup. The Texans give up the 6th most fantasy points to opposing TE's. 5 TD's over as many week and over 50 yds rec in 4 of those 5 weeks. Rudolph can guide you through a foggy Christmas Eve.

Defense - Billy

Must Start: Chicago :CHI: vs :ARI:
The Bears defense has fallen off as of late, but they should be able to rebound against a horrible Cardinals offense.

Must Sit: Seattle :SEA-NFL: vs :SFO:
The Seattle defense has been dominant this year, but that probably will not continue this week against the 49ers. San Fran's offense has been playing well lately and even the Seattle defense probably won't stop that.

Sleeper: Washington :WAS-NFL: vs :PHI-NFL:
Washington's defense has played better as of late (mainly in the 2nd half) but they will be going up against an Eagles offense that has made any defense look great lately. Last time these 2 played, the Skins defense held the Philly offense to only 6 points, 257 yards, and forced three turnovers.

  • Jwalkerjr88: I get like that too Eric. My goal every offseason is to do at least 1 trade with every gm. Why not? Its fun
    Yesterday at 04:55:00 PM
  • Jwalkerjr88: Some guys just dont trade for whatever reason. But the guys who dont arent championship contenders.
  • Daddy: They trade, about as often as real teams do. For people that love year round trading, being in one league, one sport, its going to be difficult.
  • Jwalkerjr88: Not everyone trades. But agreed, for one sport folk like myself. It requires patience

  • Daddy: We all have the same assets

  • Alpha5: If a team has 2 QB1s another team has none. If a team in baseball has 2 1B it doesn't leave a team without one.
  • Alpha5: That's what I mean by limited assets
    Today at 09:09:53 AM
  • Brent: And that's why I haven't traded Carr yet.  Someone doesn't have a QB or thinks they'll get one in FA/draft and might be left wanting.
  • Daddy: @Alpha if a team in MLB LIVE has two starting 1Bs then there is also a team without one.
  • ldsjayhawk: @jwalker I make like 2-3 trades a year for each of my baseball teams, maybe.  I'll tell you part of the reason I don't trade.  Every trade discussion starts out with the other team wanting my top prospect regardless of what I am trading for.  I am not trading Jackson Holliday for your backup catcher who is going to play 20 games this year.

  • Brent: In an offsite league, I inquired about Mason Miller and the guy asked for Jackson Holliday.

  • dbreer23: Is it like a 4 team redraft league?
  • dbreer23: Cris, there is a reason that you are a good owner, bc you can discern a value deal vs. a BS deal. Not all owners are that savvy. They will eventually leave...
  • Brent: Nope, 32-team contract league.
  • ldsjayhawk: I don't have Holiday.  Just used him as an example since he was the #1 prospect
    Today at 12:56:05 PM
  • ldsjayhawk: @Alpha I do make trades.  I am just not giving up the entire farm to land a guy I can get out of the FA pool
    Today at 12:59:21 PM
  • ldsjayhawk: Trading should be a win-win situation for both teams.
  • dbreer23: Agreed. I think the Devers deal in FGM is a good example of that. Devers gives SD some now (and future) pop, giving up substantial pieces to get him (Mayo, Keith, and one other).
  • Brent: I had Holliday in FGM before I stepped away.
  • Brent: I am glad I cut back on leagues, I was spread too thin.
  • Jwalkerjr88: @idsjayhawk i understand that. To be clear, i wasnt judging anyone. I just know in NFL Live, you cant just draft 1-7 rds every year and sign a few FAs and be the champion. It wont happen
    Today at 01:52:08 PM
  • Jwalkerjr88: Trading isnt easy. But neither is winning
    Today at 01:52:22 PM
  • Jwalkerjr88: If you made a list of the most aggressive gms to have stepped foot in nfl live, you will notice the champions will be among them
    Today at 01:53:06 PM
  • Jwalkerjr88: You arent gonna win every trade and you HAVE to have a plan. Ive made some horrible trades. I have every year
    Today at 01:53:50 PM
  • Jwalkerjr88: Carolina has kyren williams right now cause i traded him for a 2nd and a 4th. Id rather have kyren today lol
    Today at 01:54:28 PM
  • Brent: Agreed.  I have Amon Ra St. Brown and Aiyuk because I traded JJ.  I couldn't have acquired a player like ASB where I was picking in the 1st so I down tiered at WR to make a trio of Chase, ASB and Aiyuk instead of JJ, Chase and fill in the blank.
  • ldsjayhawk: That is probably even more true in baseball since your drafts don't payoff for 5 years or so.  And I will admit my conservatism may be the reason I only have one championship here at ProFSL
    Today at 02:10:04 PM
  • BayAreaBallers: jwalkerjr88 is right
  • BayAreaBallers: on that u havat trade a bit here and there
    Today at 02:25:57 PM
  • BayAreaBallers: although my last draft class and fa class kinda lead me to a run so it can happen
    Today at 02:27:21 PM
  • Brent: Yeah, it does help to have a big draft class and available cap.
  • Brent: I'm contemplating doing a complete tear down in NFL Live and rebuild.  Honestly, I probably should have postered for it to be this season.  I still might, but I would legit need to go into the draft with 3-4 top 10 picks/+ many others.
  • Brent: postured
  • Jwalkerjr88: Yea nailing drafts and some key FAs helps too. But if you remember BAB you traded alvin kamara for the rams 1-7 draft picks. So the extra picks helped you nail the 2023 draft the way you did
    Today at 03:13:02 PM
  • Jwalkerjr88: Its the combination of all three that is required is what im saying
    Today at 03:13:31 PM
  • Jwalkerjr88: And brent a tear down with you assets would look interesting. Personally i just think you need break one big asset down into 3 good ones and move carr and go from there. But you have an A1 nfl mind so im sure you will nail whatever it is you decide
    Today at 03:14:39 PM
  • Jwalkerjr88: *your
  • BayAreaBallers: very good pt yes i did gain lot of capital which propelled me to make more moves from that trade
    Today at 03:34:25 PM
  • Brent: Thank you.  Yes, I agree.  I do need to break one asset down to 3.  I did that with JJ, went from S tier to 2 A tiers.  Now I need to potentially go from an A tier to 3 Bs or something like that.  I've had some inquiries on Carr, but nothing worth moving him.
