Rangers send Marian Hossa, $5.3m (2017-2018)

Red Wings send

Bobby Butler, $0.2m (2013-2014)

Erik Gustafsson, $0.2m (2013-2014)

My Hawk made a trade where we added a pretty banged up 4.5m Malone for a grinder in Fraser 0.2m but this is how do we say premature since :NYR: can make lots of moves to shed cap.

Like extend Hayes, Goc, Dowell, Shaw to cheaper deals.
Save your :NYR: like 4m probably.

and Elliott too once season kicks off and he's in the AHL after 15 games.

The Wings confirm this deal. I think Gustafsson is a great young D-man who still has a ton of upside, but NY approached us with this deal, and though Hossa is getting older and has a injury history, he is still a good player on a great Chicago team.

Thanks Wings. I'd do this deal even without consideration of cap issues.

I'll have to consider this after I see :NYR: make other cap clearing moves. Tubbs, see what you can clear with a extensions before dealing Hossa. As it stands, the team doesn't appear to have many assets.

Like I said below. I do this move notwithstanding cap issues. I don't like Hossa. I think he is old and injury prone. I need to rebuild and getting rid of his contract is a first step in doing that.

I think your 3rd best player is worth a lot more than "depth" guys. This trade makes your team significantly worse.  :o

 :veto:

My reason for voting No is simple. This in no way helps improve the NY Rangers and in fact hurts them.

I think if the Rangers wanted a cheap defenseman they could've landed Marek Zidlicky during FA for a king's ransom of $0.4 Million (someone correct me if I'm wrong on the cap hit).

Hossa is a top talent regardless of age or team alliances and he's been fine especially while parading with the Cup the real Blackhawks won thanks to his contributions.

Either rework the trade or kill it.

I am not on the trade committee and I hate seeing detroit get any stronger of a team but in Tubbs defense,,,, There have been similar calibre players being dropped/bought out throughout free agency, Richards, Couture to name 2.

He managed to get a return on hossa, not sure how this deal is veto'd taking into account past transactions this season.   Although I think his timing is poor and should have made this move before FA started.
