Looks ok to me but the prospect is a 1st round pick which should hold higher value then a backup (at best) goalie

I don't understand how this trade gets 2 :iatp:. I broke it down as a high end prospect, a mid level prospect and 1m in cash. I don't think we should even consider the Goemz thing as it is not part of this trade. I know that if I traded a back-up goalie who has an NHL job for a high end prospect, and a mid-level prospect that trade would be shot down faster then I could blink, and yet we are letting an AHL goalie go for a that price, no way in hell this should even be here, this should have been shot down by the leagues TC a long time ago.

That was my point as well when I said Veto..... A lot of people seem to be ok with it though and I cant really understand the logic behind it. Leighton is technically not in the NHL right now, so its like trading for nothing  at all but a small ammt of cap space. So I think LA benefits WAY too much for just getting cap space for MTL, LA doesnt even take anything on and they get rid of dead weight in Leighton

I have no idea why Gomez is even mentioned here. He is not part of the trade. I have also have no idea what will happen with Michael Leighton in the future. Nathan Beaulieu is good prospect so give the edge to LA in this trade. It is not too one sided as both sides are taking a some sort of risk.

Canadiens get:
G Michael Leighton, $1.6m (2011-2012)

Kings get:
D Nathan Beaulieu, $m (P-2011)
F Olivier Archambault, $m (P-2011)
1M Cash

 :iatp:

Agreed.  Gomez does not matter.  It is a sale of Leighton who is on a one-year deal and provides goalie depth in a 20-team league.  In return are two prospects and cash.

Solid deal to me.

:iatp:
Leighton won't even play in the NHL the Flyers already announced that due to cap reasons he will play the remainder of his contract in the AHL and most likely won't be resigned. so how is it a solid deal?? I just don't understand and would like some clarity.

no way in hell this should even be here, this should have been shot down by the leagues TC a long time ago.

Our league is using the ProFSL TC for this reason entirely.  I wanted to move controversial trades out of the league to avoid tension between fellow owners in the league.  I've seen lots of drama in other leagues due to trades and I didn't want it.  So, that's why it's here.  On whether or not Gomez should be considered in evaluating this trade, that's the TC members prerogative.  If you don't want to consider it you shouldn't.  The notion that we should all evaluate trades the same way defeats the purpose of a committee.  If certain members choose to consider the Gomez accommodation I don't see a problem with it.  I chose to view this one a certain way, but I've made my view clear, I think, so I won't belabor the point.

I have to agree with you here Jesse. Why do this trade if this is the case?

:iatp: People who are not on the TC should not be making comments here. IMO   What do you guys think? or do you guys think it is OK because they don't have a vote and only an opinion?

I don't have a problem with people in the trade explaining it here. ie Whomp and myself.

otherwise, if you aren't a part of the deal or on the TC I agree.

I think only TC members should comment I do not think even the teams involved should comment. I think maybe an explanation of why they did the trade and maybe answer a question if asked but I don't think they should comment as they will just complain if the trade doesn't go their way

  • Daddy: Honestly i love the deal because my GMs love it. I dont say good deal bad deal or i like this side better.  My goal is to provide a fair platform where people are free to trade and not be judged because nobody knows for sure how these trades will play out. Lots of ACLs are gonna tear between now and new years.  Im always happy that two strangers with different backgrounds can meet in our league and enjoy freedom to be themselves and do what THEY THINK is best. I love every deal. (Had to share that @Braves) :toast:
