I have no idea why Gomez is even mentioned here. He is not part of the trade. I have also have no idea what will happen with Michael Leighton in the future. Nathan Beaulieu is good prospect so give the edge to LA in this trade. It is not too one sided as both sides are taking a some sort of risk. Canadiens get:G Michael Leighton, $1.6m (2011-2012)Kings get:D Nathan Beaulieu, $m (P-2011)F Olivier Archambault, $m (P-2011)1M Cash
Agreed. Gomez does not matter. It is a sale of Leighton who is on a one-year deal and provides goalie depth in a 20-team league. In return are two prospects and cash.Solid deal to me.
no way in hell this should even be here, this should have been shot down by the leagues TC a long time ago.
Leighton won't even play in the NHL the Flyers already announced that due to cap reasons he will play the remainder of his contract in the AHL and most likely won't be resigned. so how is it a solid deal?? I just don't understand and would like some clarity.
Our league is using the ProFSL TC for this reason entirely. I wanted to move controversial trades out of the league to avoid tension between fellow owners in the league. I've seen lots of drama in other leagues due to trades and I didn't want it. So, that's why it's here. On whether or not Gomez should be considered in evaluating this trade, that's the TC members prerogative. If you don't want to consider it you shouldn't. The notion that we should all evaluate trades the same way defeats the purpose of a committee. If certain members choose to consider the Gomez accommodation I don't see a problem with it. I chose to view this one a certain way, but I've made my view clear, I think, so I won't belabor the point.
People who are not on the TC should not be making comments here. IMO What do you guys think? or do you guys think it is OK because they don't have a vote and only an opinion?
