Florida makes this deal for a better than avg backup and sometimes 1C goalie. Riemer is gonna cost more but brings a bluechip prospect we drafted in tow. The Draft pks are nice and might come in handy if we don't keep them. Ultimately we felt there was a chance Petr would be lost in July's expansion draft so this trade gets us some assets in return for a young starting goalie.

Yes, yes. Done deal. Senators have their starter for the 2017-18 season.
We've been waiting for a young goalie to come along in a deal and this seemed to make sense. James Reimer had a big cap hit for a backup so it's good to move him in a package for Mrazek and Ceci. Loving this trade for next season.

Not a bad trade for the Sens but really boils down to how the NHL's Wings do rebuilding their roster. They sucked this yr and they're due for a teardown-rebuild immediately.
