San Jose agrees. It was important to replace the potential of a Shipachyov and this package allows us to move on. Wishing NJ and Vadim GL. Thanks again for the trade AntMan!

On the surface it appears to be a victory for San Jose but upon further inspection New Jersey stands to gain from this trade as they take additional steps to recover valuable cap space currently locked in a Buy-out and appear to be headed for a successful rescue of that $3.8 Million in cap space which would have been otherwise frozen for another 3 years. For that reason I give the edge to the Devils.

What an incredible twist. Many were surprised that Ship was taken in the supp draft, only for SJ to parlay him into a 2nd round Entry pick and a promising young d-man. Master moves by SJ.

NJ is trying to fix their cap situation and rebuild in their image from the bottom up. In the upcoming season they'll be able to acquire Ship in FA and do a proper 1 year buyout so there isn't dead cap hanging on the roster for years (like I advised when trading Ship away, glad I didn't get saddled with that debt)

Great trade for SJ, decent but necessary trade for NJ
