Boston lands Booth; trades with Islanders

In a need to acquire cap space, New York ships David Booth to Boston.

Boston receives:
David Booth, $4.3m (2014-2015)

New York Islanders recieves:
Boston 3rd Round 2011
Boston 4th Round 2011

I do this to fill a void at LW.

(6/18/11) We expect David Booth to rebound from a sub par 2010-11 campaign. He registered only 40 points in 82 games after a concussion-plagued season in 2009-10. Booth has been staying in shape and is looking forward to playing for new coach Kevin Dineen. "...He's a very positive guy that's going to try to change this culture here and move us in the right direction. That's what we need. So I'm really excited to meet him and play for him. Already excited for the year and it's just June 9th", said Booth. We look for Booth to rebound somewhat next season and wouldn't be surprised if he registered 30 goals and 55 points. ~Fantrax

David Booth has a bit of a price tag but the Boston Bruins are proud to add him to their roster regardless.  If Booth can make a full recovery from his concussion, and play as well as he did in 2008-2009, we could see him tally 30+ goals and 55+ points.  We don't expect him to carry that load.  This will be a good replacement to the production lost when Marco Sturm hit free agency, actually an upgrade.  Further, the trade fills the Bruins need for a LW as Liam Reddox has agreed to play in Europe for the season and they were left with a hole at the position.  Booth is expected to lineup as the 2nd line LW.
