Lightning & Blues Trade
« on: September 20, 2014, 02:52:18 PM »
:TBL: sends:
G Kevin Poulin $3.4m (2012-2015)
D Frank Corrado $0.6m (2014-2016)
:TBL: 1st rd pick

:STL-NHL: sends:
RW Scottie Upshaw $0.4m (2013-2015)
:STL-NHL: 3rd rd pick (2015)

Tampa does this deal to gain $3.6m in cap and a serviceable RW in Upshall who is a proven commodity at a thin position. It was tough to move my 1st rd pick, but I am betting that it will not be a premium pick as we hope that Lightning strikes the playoffs..the 3rd rounder in return also helps to cushion the blow.

Upshaw is on a sweet deal, & provides us the kind of depth, scoring we needed to help us compete for almost no $$$, allowing us to call up some excellent forwards as well. It was a mistake grabbing Poulin & Corrado in hindsight due to subsequent trades & this deal opens up the cap & roster spots needed to correct those mistakes while also providing a decent RW.

Thanks Ripper for the pro talks & good luck in the Loo. :toth:

I accept. We had some cap space and some depth at RW to make this move. We have an entirely new team this year. Good Luck Tampa, looking very improved.

Expensive way to get cap space but understand hard choices need to be made.

:veto: this could use a rework boys. Great deal for stlouis but terrible deal for TB.

Tampa's main gain here is a 31yo rw thats only played 3 full seasons and the rest he was hurt a lot. . 3 almost full yrs out of 11.

To give up a cheap young backup that racks up pts like a top line skater and a 1st rd pk. Overpaying and bad for Tampa.

Bolts couldve saved that 3-4m by leaving all the prospects in the minors earlier this summer.

also Matt carle is on the lightning b/o list and can get a 2m discount Hmmmm that should be worth a solid 2nd rd back to me as a finders fee Daddy. You can priority post that to my Bruins! haha

This deal hurts TB now and later!

 :veto:

Tampa is giving up too much in my opinion. With the value of goalies in this deep league, giving up a goalie and a 1st (even what should be a late first) is a big hit. Maybe if the player coming back wasnt a depth player who puts up few points. I get needing to clear cap but there are plenty of teams able to take on cap and still make a decent hockey trade.

Poulin is only 24 and has shown decent flashes of talent, he should at least be a competent backup in the future. He was thrust into the crease with a poor team in front of him, so I understand how that can undermine confidence in him.

Not on TC but absolutely a terrible one sided trade. Clearing payroll does not justify this trade and for the good of the league it must be vetoed or reworked.

Personally I give more lee-way than most for GM's to screw up their teams. That said, this deal is clearly detrimental.

I guess the problem is that you all see Poulin as an asset? I looked at him as $3.4M in dead cap. He is not a back up with Halak and then Johnson in the net.

Next problem is your assuming Upshall isn't worth anything because of his Nhl role. In this league he scores vey well.

I am fine with the Veto but think a few of you misread this deal completely.

Fuk that, i will take it even a step further..There are 2 reasons to veto a deal, #1 Collusion #2 A Franchise killer,& this is neither! You pompus arrogant azz computer jockey's make me puke.

Some people value draft picks higher than others..ME? I WIPE MY ASS WITH THEM. I join $$ leagues to have a fair shot to run my team as I see fit. I WORK HARD FOR MY $$, and thus when I play with my $$ what gives any of you the right to dictate my joy????

Say my trade sucks, say I lose the deal, say that you wouldnt do it...thats fine. BUT VETO because you feel you missed your calling as an NHL GM???? You can kiss my ENTIRE ASS! Maybe Im a bit sensative at the moment, but this pisses me off. I have NEVER quit a league, win, lose or draw, I see my teams thru. Not every trade is a good one, how many trades have passed in fantasy or real life that in hindsight were Fukd up?

I pay my $$ to gamble on myself against others, I dont quit & I dont cheat, and for those of you who want to offer advice as to "what I should do" or who criticize "what I have done"..FUK OFF!

You just nullified my roster moves and jeapordized my entire season because you think I overpaid. Well just who da fuk are you? REALLY???????????????????

If you wanted to run :TBL: you should have paid for :TBL:
I was asked to join this league & did so honorably thinking Im competing with honorable men. I PAID MY $$$ TO RUN MY OWN FUKN TEAM. Not to have a handful of you run it for me. This deal is fine as is, its you who are jacked. :veto: my dick!

The club also placed right-hander Michael Grove on the 15-day injured list due to lat tightness. In corresponding moves, the club has recalled right-hander J.P. Feyereisen and selected the contract of right-hander Michael Petersen. To make room for Petersen on the 40-man roster, the Dodgers transferred right-hander Joe Kelly to the 60-day injured list.
