Brendan Smith, $1.5m (2014-2017)

made this deal for the upside of Stalock and pairing him with Niemi who he is pushing for #1 Goalie. Along with Jack Campbell we see ourselves with 3 #1 Goalies in (2016-17 & beyond). Time will tell.

We gave up Teddy Purcell and a 2nd for Gaborik, and depart with him reluctantly, but at the end of the day i take Purcell, Backstrom, Connolly, 2nd rd, for Stalock, Smith..is still a win.

Daddy approached me about Stalock a while ago, but it wasn't until I traded for Jake Allen that I became more ok with dealing him. Backstrom and Gaborik are both on the wrong side of 30, but Connolly still has plenty of upside. I see Backstrom and Stalock both as backup next year and beyond I'll have Allen. Connolly for Smith is something I feel good about, and Gaborik is in a good situation in LA and just got a long extension, now hopefully he can stay healthy.

Wings take this one. No doubt bout it! But I understand the new owner has a vision and is building towards it. Still, perhaps I dont understand the value of Stalock and B.Smith but seems like a lot of scoring to deal away for 2 lesser players.

I just want to say that a lot of this is about potential and long term plans. Backstrom is a backup on his way to retirement and Stalock is on his way to being a starter. Also if Backstrom doesn't retire, he'll cost a fortune to resign where Stalock has a longer super cheap contract. Both Gabby and Backstrom have large injury histories. Don't get me wrong, I still feel I win this, but it's pretty close, maybe closer than some think.

Like I said, its a money league and people have a strategy coming in and sometimes a specific deal makes more sense after another 3-5 moves. Im probably more scared that I cant figure out Daddy's plan enough to cut him off at the pass than anything at this pt. Haha
