Florida asked about our young Bluechip goaltending prospect Mrazek and we told them the price was Benn. From there we built the deal out to account for Benn being the 4th best skater in FNHL (only behind Ovie, Perry and Sid) and he's only 25 years old. WOOT! Getting Koko and Gemel to re-stock the farm was icing on the cake for my Kings.

I feel we benefit from this trade immediately and in the future while giving up our spare players.

Lots of back and forth but we got the deal done.

We moved our backup goalies to plug some holes in the roster in anticipation of acquiring Petr Mzazek. The price was steep with Jamie Benn but after landing O'Reilly earlier in the off-season I felt comfortable making this trade for a goalie prospect I'm high on as the potential heir apparent in Motown once the brass there get tired of Howard. Getting the 1st rounders compensates for getting a package of players with very limited to no NHL experience. Khokhlachev was another tough piece to give up in the deal. He was my 1st  draft pick, in my 1st FNHL draft in the 1st rd of the 2011 FNHL Entry Draft.

This is a big trade. I like it. It probably took a lot of work and a lot of talent and potential are going to both sides. Its hard to say who wins. LA definitely wins now, but next year, or the year after Florida might come away way ahead here.

It's a big trade with lots of moving parts. Short term LA benefits most, long term Fla benefits imo, either way both sides get what they want.

I think Florida hears a storm brewing and is trying to make preparations

Definitely a WIN to LA now with the addition of Benn and his +200 pts.
Florida wins in a couple of yrs, maybe. Always tough to project young goalies but Mrazek is a good one in a great organization known for developing young talent.

Like the package landing in Florida. 2 1st rd pks, stud prospect G, Leo will have a good yr back in the NHL. Then again Benn is only 25yrs old and getting better each season. I do understand the Panthers/Pens deal a bit better but think Florida wouldve been better off keeping Greiss and adding Mrazek as well. But thats just me.
