I am an outside, but this trade seems lopsided for some teams. Why in the world would you trade one of the best players in the league for some picks that will take years to develop?

Take a minute to study my roster and my record last season and the rules on international free agency and that should give you some pretty solid answers.

:PIT: gives:
Andrew McCutchen (1 year remaining)
Neil Walker (3 years remaining)
Pedro Alverez (3 years remaining)
John Buck (2 years remaining at $6M/year
cash $16M

:PIT: gets:
Christian Yelich
1st rounder (3)
2nd rounder (2)
3rd rounder (3)
5th rounder (3)
A bunch of international cash

Hidden in the complexity of this deal, it appears as though :PIT: is in a hardcore rebuilding mode.

It's 3 second round picks, thank you very much.  hahah  Honestly, being approached with this deal made it an easy decision to just rebuild it all which was my preference.  If I didn't get pretty great offers for McCutchen I was going to be stuck on a mediocrity treadmill until some of my prospects were ready.

Truth be told, I'm a big believer in Yelich.  That guy is like a batting champion in the making.  I'm very excited about getting him.

Like I said I am an outsider, but just seems a bit crazy to trade most of your good players for a spec and a bunch of picks.

Rome wasn't built in a day, Teams aren't rebuilt in one season.

All we are talking about is Pittsburgh. How do any of the other teams benefit from this trade? I have a simple deal getting vetoed but here we have this behemoth that everyone is just fine and tidy with?

This is the 3rd trade that I have attempted in this league in less than a year that is getting shot down. I have only been able to execute one trade in this league and that was with the league manager.

Other than that, nothing. A simple little trade like this gets picked aprt to tthe point of exhaustion, but yet 5 teams each traded most of their rosters, all of their draft picks and cash on top of international money...and it just passes right through????

That's B.S..

Hey, I only count a net gain of two second rounders, but whatever helps you sleep at night ;)

Your entire premise is whiny BS.  You have no actual baseball related reason to reject the trade, a trade you already said you didn't understand.  The simplicity or complexity of a trade isn't a just cause for a veto.

You're flat out vetoing a trade in revenge for your trade being vetoed for being judged lopsided despite the fact nobody involved in this trade vetoed your trade.  That's just petty and childish.
