Buckets of Dimes: Archives / Portland Roster (Example)
« on: July 29, 2018, 01:06:39 AM »
I am going to link and share the full spreadsheet when complete but attached my team as an example (the first part will no longer show once you assign players just want to make it super clear for everyone how it will look initially).

Yellow players are guys based on 2017-2018 contracts and thus you have choice whether to keep them or release them at no cost. All other year salaries are average and rounded up or down.

To get a better sense of things have a look at the multi-year summary but keep in mind it's not always going to be exact as a guy like Nurkic signed his extension this offseason but was a RFA otherwise (regardless of RFA any offseason extensions don't count), which is why he is yellow and only costing me 2.9m. Also guys who were not on team to end last season will not be on team this year. You will also get rights to any 2 way players at whatever small cap hit they may have and these guys will always be yellow as well.

This can definitely get a little confusing which is why I want everyone to understand how I'm doing it.

Brewers trade:

OF Alex Kirilloff
OF Sergio Campana
P Richard Gallardo
OF Jose de la Cruz
C Hendrik Clementina
SP Freddy Valdez
2018 8th round pick
2018 9th round pick
2019 5th round pick
2019 6th round pick
2019 8th round pick

Tigers Trade:

Jose Altuve 33m (2022) - fully paid 2018, 18m paid 2019 and 3m each year 2020-2022

What a deal! While I was pretty content to ride out the deadline or just make another small deal, when I saw Altuve was available figured I'd inquire and we managed to work this out. Although it's more than I would like to give up I feel like he is the final piece that can really put me over the top against the likes of HOU and MIN.

Kirilloff is tough to move but I was open to doing so for a truly elite player and he is definitely the main piece that got this done. On top of that I'm basically moving almost my entire international class so far, including De La Cruz and Gallardo both of which I think are amongst the highest upside players in this class but really you never know with any of these J2 guys so it makes it a little easier to move. There is a really good chance I regret this down the line especially when Altuve kicks in at 30m but this move is all about making my strong chances at a title even stronger and 18m paid next year should still be manageable- hopefully by 2020 I'll make other moves to work my cap into shape.

Buckets of Dimes: Archives / Team Assignment
« on: July 25, 2018, 11:34:30 PM »
Not a perfect method but 16 teams have been assigned with 13 being 1st or 2nd choice. You'll see some 1st choice that overlapped (such as Knicks, Celtics, Pelicans) were assigned if initially the other person(s) who had the overlap would get their 2nd choice based on repeating the process several times each time excluding overlaps where another team was assigned- I realize this sounds confusing and again not perfect, but just have a look and hopefully you'll see what I did.

Please let me know if you see an issue but I hope that everyone is as happy as they can be, if you want to opt out from your team because you did not get your 1st choice and take a shot at the draft, I have no problem letting you do that and participating with the 4 unassigned teams- I did not see any fair way to assign a team to those 4 but still pretty happy 16 worked out.

To opt out you need to post here or shoot me a PM by Friday- let's say 6pm EST- that way I'll run the random draft for the 4 teams and anyone else.

Mariners Recieve:
Zach Britton  7m (2021)
Kyle Lewis
Brennan Hanifee
Luis Matos
Robert Tyler
Jackson Tetreault
6th Round Pick 2018

Brewers Recieve:
James Paxton  480k (arb till 2021)
Wade Davis  6.5m (2020)

Welcoming Seattle with a blockbuster trade package in hopes of helping with the rebuild while giving me 2 quality vets for a title pursuit this year. Love what Paxton brings and if he can stay healthy is a nice addition both this year and beyond. Also swapping 2 solid but overpaid RPs as I prefer Davis.

Buckets of Dimes: Archives / 2017-2018 Team Salary Caps
« on: July 16, 2018, 05:49:58 PM »
Use this for a quick reference when deciding what team to draft- it is the onus on each GM to actually analysis the individual player salaries as they will be reflected on here only post draft.

You can see some teams will have to use their free drop and potentially a few buyouts/trades to get to the 110m cap limit while other teams have more flexibility but individual analysis is strongly encouraged to see overall player value per a team.

Chicago Bulls                       $63,826,969                      7, 37

Updated numbers we are using are "active cap" https://www.spotrac.com/nba/cap/2017/

You can go to a specific team and go to the 2017-2018 salaries to see what each player is or also look at a multi year perspective for players with varied salaries.

Surprisingly it's impossible to find the list of picks original teams so best I could find was list showing which ones where traded. There is an error here as 29th pick should say via Raptors but I think rest should be accurate

https://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/2018-nba-draft-order-date-time-where-each-team-is-slated-pick-on-draft-night/

Keep in mind since we are running with 20 teams the actual picks you will have will change once we know which teams are not part of the league as it will be 40 total picks not 60.

Buckets of Dimes / Questions/Suggestions
« on: July 16, 2018, 02:09:56 AM »
Post here if you have any questions regarding rules or suggestions you'd like to see added/changed.

You will want to look at the rules again as I just made some updates and hopefully do a final update within a dew days. For the time being all rules will remain under 1 post so if anything is unclear or you think needs tweaking don't hesitate to bring it up.

This is a bigger projected than I intially wanted to take up, but I have committed to the challange so I'd appreciate all input.

Giants trade:

Albert Pujols 9m 2019 (2018 fully paid for and 3m paid 2019)
250k international fund

Brewers trade:

Artie Lewicki
Payton Squier
Steven Sensley
7th round pick from :LAA: 2018
7th round pick from :NYM: 2019

Slight mix up on the previous deal so we took it a different route as we were trying to workout something for Puljos as well. I no longer need as much funds with a few guys I wanted gone so 250k is good enough along with another Vet to help with my playoff run and given my cap the money is key.
