It will depend on how the rest of the TC votes.

I believe proper protocol here would be to retract all votes and hear the two sides and then have the TC re-vote.

Since I am no longer part of the TC I cannot make a vote for or against this trade. However, I believe my opinion still carries some weight. As far as I am concerned (my POV) the Yanks are getting the better end of the deal, simply because in my opinion I do not value the players that NYY are receiving simply due to their contracts. Beltran has proved that he is healthy, and has been productive. The Yanks can also afford to re-sign him so it isn't a one year rental. Wells is done, and no I don't think he produces once he gets back. Blake should be out until the end of May. Beltran for Arod is even in my book given all things considered (contracts, injury concerns, age, etc). Blake, Wells, and Lackey (who just flat out stinks and is due 10 mil for a few more seasons) I think are equal value for the prospects received. Blake is nothing more than a one year rental, Wells and Lackey are expensive duds.

Beltran may have had a bunch of interest, but Corey wanted Goldsmidt. And as we all know, everyone in this league values talent differently. To say that this trade is obscenely lopsided, IMO, is unfair. Is there a lot of MLB talent heading to the Yanks, yes. We can also agree the Mets are receiving the best player in the deal, while no longer having to pay Vernon Wells or John Lackey in future seasons. But, as I said earlier, I do not have a vote. If I did I would approve this deal.

I agree with your assessment Dan. I have not said that it is obscenely lopsided, just that this is a lopsided deal in favor of the Yankees. And it is due to the circumstances surrounding the deal that I am not approving, not for the value per se. If the deal was very even I would approve it in spite of the circumstances, but it is the combination of both that lead me to my decision.

Trades are supposed to be discussed when there is dissent. There are still some TC members that haven't voted. The decision rests with them.

Excuse me Dan, but this is how our league runs.  Most trades are simply approved without much comment.  Trades must be approved by four of the six TC members.  If there is a TC member against the trade before it is approved (many are approved 4-0) then each side must give additional reasoning behind their end of the deal.  Other TC members usually chime in with their opinions.  On top of that, other members of the league generally have an input on the trade.  This is what makes this league so great.  As you can see, we will debate over plenty of issues, but it simply improves the quality of the league each and every time.

i agree on few points made but big issuie is to unload a big contract without having to pay for some or most for remaning years. The deal seems more to one side but most trades have to in order to gain a player or 2  of want or need, both teams seems to like who they get and doesnt seem to lopsided to harm league so   :iatp:
