Mets strike a deal with the subway rivals
«
on:
May 16, 2011, 01:26:55 PM »
The subway rivals send a few packing, they agree to send
SP Archer, Chris, $0.5m (2012)
OF Beltran, Carlos, $17m (2011) 17m pd for by NYM
CI Blake, Casey, $6m (2011) 6m pd for by NYM
P Garcia, Christian, $0.5m (P-n/a)
SP Lackey, John, $10.5m (2012)
OF Wells, Vernon, $18m (2014)
To the Bronx for
CI Goldschmidt, Paul, $0.5m (P-n/a)
SP Maine, John, $3m (2012)
P Perez, Carlos, $0.5m (P-n/a)
CI Rodriguez, Alex, $27.5m (2017)
P Jokisch, Eric, $0.5m (P-n/a)
The Mets agree to take on the worst contract in the league in order to obtain some youth. Goldschmidt Perez and Jokisch are all personal favorites of mine. Maine was included to help on money next year. Kinda of swap of dead weight. The Mets hate to get rid of a top 50 in Archer, but hope Perez benefits from being in the best farm system in baseball.
Yanks to confirm

I think this is a very well balanced deal, especially considering there is only a handful of teams in this league that could consider taking on AROID. Well done fellas.

Mets gain youth and even production this year and the Yankees cut cap in the future.

I for one won't accept this trade. I think that considering the circunstances under which Corey left the Yankees for the Mets there should be a time period before he brings in players from his old team. It is unfair for the rest of the league since obviously a manger prefers the players from the team he had previously built. Plus, this trade may be a little bit lopsided. I know how hard it is to get rid of awful contracts in this league and I think that the fact that the Yankees are getting three major leaguers and a solid prospect in exchange for A-Rod and a couple of prospects is simply too good.

I believe that all of recent opposition to the New GMs trades may have created a need for a bit of overpayment from an existing GM to a new GM, therefore making sure the new GM was not taken advantage of.
I think that this trade is a good balance, but I truly believe in Goldschmidt and Perez, while I am down on Archer (traded him this offseason). Yanks get major league players with bad contracts Wells and Lackey.

Yes but Wells should start producing when he gets back from injury and in this league even with those horrible numbers Lackey still helps with points simply by remaining a starter. Plus Blake and Beltran may be aging guys but they are producers and there was plenty of league interest in them. Wells contract is until 2014, A-Rod's is 2017. And let's remember this is a hitter-biased league, so pitching prospects are worth less than hitters.

This 2024 NFL Draft class is better than 90% of every draft ive witnessed since 1980. In NFL LIVE if you arent a top ten team, i strongly urge that you invest in 2024 draft.

Unlike all these other sports, THE NFL IS A YOUNG MANS GAME. Hockey, Baseball, Basketball, play till your 40. Not just the greats... Jamie Moyer was never great, pitched till he was 44.

NHL/NFL/MLB LIVE GMs be warned, if you miss a week, you miss a lot in those leagues. Take your time building, take your time evaluating, learn at your own pace.

Just know, if you miss time at any point of the year, not just the active season. You have missed a lot. You've probably fallen behind your competition. Ten-Fifteen guys in all three of those leagues dont ever miss any opportunities.

One more thing. The NFL LIVE waiting list is longer than you see on profsl or fantrax. There are people that know people that want in that league. No pressure on anyone but i cant just hold your franchise while you draft and do nothing else.

i built College football for you guys that do that. Great scoring system, no trades, set your lineup and go getm! NFL moves too fast for that mentality. Apologies.
