Has this changed too?  All entry level contracts must be three years and equal to draft position.  Right?

no, it's the same as what was in place during 2011-12...

you need to

- post the player's draft position
- post the # of yrs you want
- post his salary range based on his draft position.
- :EC: will verify your requested contract submission.
if everything checks out, we process.

nothing's changed...
my expectation is everyone's a professional GM and presents the contract versus submit a work order for the admin to dig up. it's saves time all around for processing.

Ahh gotcha.  And so you know all contracts like this MUST be three years and are subject to arbitration!

Gustav Nyquist = 121 overall 2008 = 200k
Joe Colborne = 16th overall 2008 = 2m

I believe a rookie, or Entry Level contract, can be 1, 2 or 3 years of length in this league.

So you could have Nyquvist and Colborne signed for 1, 2 or 3 years at their respective prices you listed above.

Quote
Entry Level (EL) Contract Designation on Team Roster Page
Will be denoted with "EL" in the years area (EL 2011-2012). Prior to July 2012, EL contracts were designated by "P-2012" for an EL contract that expired in 2011-2012.

Entry Level Contract Values
Draft Position (actual NHL pos.) - Salary
1 thru 5 - 3.0M
6 thru 10 - 2.5M
10 thru 20 - 2.0M
21 thru 25 - 1.5M
25 thru 30 - 1.0M
31 thru 40 - 900k
41 thru 50 - 800k
51 thru 60- 700k
61 thri 70 - 600k
71 thru 80- 500k
81 thru 90 - 400k
91 thru 100 - 300k
101 and above - 200k (also the FNHL min. salary)

Draftees will be placed onto the MiLR, however, if they exceed the 40 GP limit in 3 years, they must be signed to a rookie contract that can vary in length from 1-3 years and the salary per year must follow the above rules about draft position.  Draft position will be tracked under the team rosters for future reference. Once a players rookie contract is up they must be signed to new contract following normal extension values.

Capn Cally is correct. the owning team needs to state # of yrs for each contract they submit, per rules.

  • Daddy: Honestly idk why the NBA doesn't do it that way for expanding. Two teams at a time. Expansion draft to amateur draft. I think the idea is fresh and its execution will be pretty dope. ;)

  • jimw: I think the NBA goes one team at a time to give the one team a better talent pool in the expansion draft and also to keep the teams from complaining about losing more players

  • Daddy: The expansion teams will then both have 15 players heading into the amateur draft with picks #1 & #2.
  • Daddy: Each other team will still have 14 players and one first round pick.
  • Daddy: They need to hire me is what they need to do
  • Daddy: Yeah you lose a guy to the expansion draft. Likely your 6th man. Then the very next day you draft his replacement and keep it moving.
