FGM12 Predictions
« on: April 30, 2012, 06:30:32 PM »
These are merely my predictions based on past experience in this league, existing talent, and leadership of teams...

NL West - :LAD: Dodgers
NL Central - :STL: Cardinals
NL East - :PHI: Phillies
NL Wildcards - :MIL: Brewers, :COL: Rockies

AL West - :TEX: Rangers
AL Central - :KC: Royals
AL East - :NYY: Yankees
AL Wildcats - :OAK: Athletics :TB: Rays

Yanks and Brewers are susceptible to depth.

I'm gonna go...

NL West - Dodgers
NL Central - Stros
NL East - Phils
WC - Rox (this is a big if...Zimmerman and Young stay hurt, Gaby loses his job, and Tulo has his annual visit to the DL)

AL West - A's
AL Central - Royals
AL East - Yanks have most talent, but it needs to play - Going to say Rays here
WC - Rangers

We only have one WC this year, we have not adopted the new WC format. That will come next year, as will all the other CB nonsense.

Dan, I thought the intention of the league is to match MLB therefore we have two wildcards?  This has been the understanding of every GM in the league.

Nope, we did not adopt it...the RC was never called upon to vote for it. MLB did it right before our off-season started, so we did not adopt it. Nor has the way we draft been changed. All of that will take place next season. If MLB had done it sooner than it would not have been an issue... As we have done in the past, we don't adopt new policies the off-season prior to the start of the season. Everything is implemented either the year, or the previous off-season before.

I will have to take a look over things more before I make my predictions, but I hope to make the playoffs after a rough start.

Argh; this doesn't fall under the typical RC stuff as the premise of the league is to mirror MLB.  This includes additional wildcards in 2012 and the Astros to the AL in 2013.

That's all well and good  but it involves a lot more than hey MLB is doing it, so should we. We will do it, just not this season. For starters, there is no way we are going to do a one game playoff....not fair to either team, so schedule considerations need to be discussed and made. Do we want it for a week, the second round a week, the third round for 2 weeks? Its a big can of worms and it takes time. Since the MLB also pretty much did away with loss of draft pick then I guess all of the picks the Dodgers and Brewers accumulated just go into the ether now? As I have always stated, yes we want to mirror MLB as much as possible, but we are also reactionary to how they operate. I'm not going implement a rule half cocked without proper deliberation and thought because that is when things get screwed up.
