So I'm guessing this is going to need refinement for approval?

Correct... the TC's questioning about the value in the trade as well as your possible mis-understanding of the scoring system demands a tweak.  I believe you two have a solid deal in the making, but Gonzalez's product per contract (cheap for two years) is one of the best prizes to be had in this league.

I can agree with the fact that AGON is a prize, due to cheap contract.  Could another prospect be thrown in, sure.  Making sure that the Padres fully understand the league and scoring is another factor.

On the other side, I am not a huge fan of a TC that shapes GMs and their thinking.  If a GM wants to concentrate on pitching that should be allowed and it appears that we are frowning on it.  I think that dead or bad pitching spots are very detrimental to success and this is being overlooked.

Is it not more detrimental to have a dead or bad CI spot? I should know, I have Eric Chavez there.  Its quite obvious 47% to 36% that offense has the advantage and its not even close. Almost half of the points come from offense.

I don't have a problem with someone filling needs, but it needs to make sense. We are talking about Agon (along with his gem of a contract), not some midlevel CI that is shipped to a playoff hopeful team in exchange for a spect or 2. He is the type of player that you can basically hold for ransom (much they are doing in real life lol) until you get a deal that not only fills holes, but betters the whole team. My 2 cents...

Why not just drop one of the pitchers and add Chris Carter? IMO I think this deal is perfectly fair. Do I think the Pads need a bat, yes, but Martin Perez has been called the next Johan. The guy is barely a teen and in AA - not doing great, but still he is awfully young for the league. Just sayin, I have seen more egregious trades get passed. Not that I want the Cards to have Justin and Agon, but the package is fairly solid.

I agree with you on this.  You should thank Jon Gaskins for taking Chavez from me for some very odd reason.  I didn't argue.

Would have liked to seen Carter here, but Gamel will do.  :iatp:

  • indiansnation: 2:15PM: The Dodgers announced this afternoon that they’ve placed right-hander Yoshinobu Yamamoto on the 15-day injured list with triceps tightness. The club also placed right-hander Michael Grove on the 15-day injured list due to lat tightness. In corresponding moves, the club has recalled right-hander J.P. Feyereisen and selected the contract of right-hander Michael Petersen. To make room for Petersen on the 40-man roster, the Dodgers transferred right-hander Joe Kelly to the 60-day injured list.
