Edmonton does this trade to get the beast Hartnell on the LW. He does everything. Get a couple low picks and send one of my higher picks. Johnson is a sub for now and put in to make cap work. Able to give up 2 LWs because Hartnell will be playing big minutes for me going into the playoffs. Thanks Mariner, we have been going back and forth for awhile.

I confirm this trade

I really hated to give up Hartnell for obvious reasons but I needed cap space. I did get a good LW in Glencross as well as Higgins for depth. Also got a higher draft pick to help in my rebuilding efforts. I was not going to re-sign Erik johnson so he became expendable. This trade also gives me cap space needed to call up Jacob Josefson. Took a little while to work out but we got it done. Thanks Drew.

If this was last year's Hartnell, this would feel like an overpayment. But since this is this year's Hartnell, its feels about right. Very good return for the rebuilding Penguins, and a solid pick up for an Edmonton team looking to win it.
