He is choosing Irrevocable Outright Waivers, so that if they go unclaimed he could send them to minors. I am thinking he would need to offer ARB before he could do that, but its not explained in the rules, specifically.

From my understanding sending a player through waivers after the WS/once we start back up but before offering ARB has always been allowed. People have done it every year I've been here. You control a player for 6 years of service, and service doesn't accrue in the minors, but it would if you were forced to offer them ARB before sending them down

What makes it confusing is that in real life the deadline to non tender someone is November and they become a FA.

Here we are making decisions after pitchers and catchers report and apparently are able to pass arbitration eligible players through waivers to avoid paying them. It's weird to me but I can live with another armchair oddity.

Well that's partly my fault, or times fault. Armchair used to take the month of October off and then start back up with the draft in November and it would take months to get through. In effort to make things easier for the admin part and to make the league more appealing we've pushed things into a more condensed timeline. That's really the only reason it's happening at an odd time.

The timing is fine if it helps you administer the league. We are thankful you do that. I guess it's awkward treating arb guys like it's still 2023 season where we can waive and demote them. Feels like waiving an arb guy doesn't happen in real life. But this isn't real life
