I actually feel both teams are benefiting from the trade. LA has only been able to get the following out of Brodeur and Hedberg:
- Brodeur - 20.5pts
- Hedberg - 13.3pts
where as PIT will be able to use both Brodeur and Hedberg for their full points which equal around 105pts.
Backes has gotten 51.15pts and has been used in every game he has played and will be used in every game by LA.
So for current NHL players and ability to use them in games both LA and PIT benefit now.
The real losses here are:
Round 1 <--- Will end up being anywhere from 12-18 but out of top 10 for sure
Round 4
Round 5
Jack Campbell <---- probably 3-4 years away from being an NHL starter with Lehtonen in Dallas
Linden Vey <--- probably a couple years away from the NHL
Since LA is going for it all this actually improves their team for this season but is a future win plus help now for Pittsburgh.
