2009 GM of the Year
«
on:
September 11, 2009, 04:13:31 PM »
I will accept vote (via PM or in this thread) starting now, but I am sure waiting until after the playoffs may change people's votes. Anyways, this award will go out to the GM who was voted in as doing the best job. Obviously, winning is the key element here, but how a GM handled the FA and trade markets as well as injury and financial constraints is what matters.
You may not vote for yourself!
Votes will be shown public to be fair and transparent.
Voting ends November 15th (end of RS).
VOTE TALLY
5 - Brewers GM (MIL) - CLE, FL, LAA, NYY, PIT

My vote is down to Jorge (FL) vs. Ben (MIL) unless the new Twins GM can upset the Yankees!

Looking at results since our season started, I see the Rays, Twins and Royals as Franchise teams doing well and outperforming their MLB counterparts (plus another team I'm not allowed to vote for
).
With the Twins being the only one of these 3 in the playoffs, my vote is leaning towards them or whichever team wins it all.

I am voting for the Brewers. Ben came in two weeks after the 40-man rosters were declared. Some of his Brewers were unavailable, and he went out and replaced him with the best talent available. His big trade with the Indians propelled his pitching to new heights with the acquisition of Cliff Lee and some bullpen hands. Now, his Brewers are one week away from the World Series playing the Philadelphia Phillies, the team that in real life has Cliff Lee.

I expect about 10-15 GMs voting with how active this league has turned out in its inaugural season. With that said, Ben appears to be the overwhelming favorite as 2009 Manager of the Year!

I too vote for the Brewers GM. He made some pretty good moves and ended up the NLCS. Plus he also beat my Fish in the play-offs. He had a really good season, and thats why Brewers GM gets my vote.

Do I get a vote?
Unfortunately, you do not get a vote for the 2009 GM of the Year. Only GMs that were there for the 2009 season are afforded a vote. This leaves the active GM list from the 2009 season as follows.

Boston Red Sox:
Chicago White Sox:
Cleveland Indians: MIL
Colorado Rockies:
Detroit Tigers:
Florida Marlins: MIL
Houston Astros:
Kansas City Royals:
Los Angeles Angels: MIL
Los Angeles Dodgers:

Minnesota Twins:
New York Mets:
New York Yankees: MIL
Philadelphia Phillies:
Pittsburgh Pirates: MIL
San Diego Padres:
