Confirmed. I've got to resign 7 other players this year so this trade is about getting a start on clearing cap space ($5.3m to be exact, oh yeah!    ), needed a goalie and Thiessen will replace Brent Johnson sometime this year. Have no faith in defensemen drafted by Montreal Beaulieu can go but need an NHL defensemen better than Lovejoy, Peckham and Engelland working for my Pens. Talbot and Potulny are spare parts and I didn't want to buy them out and eat valuable cap space plus I've got Dustin Jeffrey ready to make the jump to a full-time top 6 role.

Bottomline, I'm making this trade to get $5m in cap space.  Thanks for the easy negotiations Pigsrule.

pens need cap space to resign a bunch of players and i value cap space like a highend player. giving up a goalie on the verge of making the nhl (likely as a backup) and a bunch of 95-100pt guys with inexpensive contracts longer than a yr.
