I just wanted to propose this idea I had. I think we should expand the constraints on salaries when it comes to the upper echelon of contracts. I feel we should be able to go to 7 years, if someone makes more than 15 mil a year. The pertains to both OFA and resigning.
My reasoning for this, is mostly for free agency sake. It seems like once you hit 5 years, you run out of strategy. I think we should be able to push the bidding further, to up the ante, if you really want a player. Again I feel this will help the smaller market teams because they can increase bidding without increasing annual salary. For instance say Albert Puljos was a Free Agent. This is just hypothetical, I am just picking the best player. He can only be paid up to 5 years. That gives the bigger market teams an advantage because they can add on to the annual dollar amount, where as a smaller market team will top out eventually, but I guess so will the larger market team. My point being is that it adds to the strategy of bidding as opposed to it being ham fisted once we reach the 5 years. Then it is just a pissing match in half million dollar increments.
I would like to here your thoughts...
