Calgary Flames complete a Blockbuster Trade with Eastern Conference Champion Boston Bruins to bring in a centerpiece for the Calgary franchise for years to come.

G - Juuse Saros (2013: 4/99 - 21 Games)
Nick Schmaltz, $2.0m (2016-2017-EL)  Can't be resigned until after FNHL Finals
Mikeal Backlund, $2.9m (2015-2018)

We will now own one of the best goalies in the league (if not the #1 FNHL Goalie which is how Cam Talbot currently ranks on Fantrax) who plays on an up and coming Edmonton Oilers team with superstar Connor McDavid leading the way. Also acquired from Boston is raising star Winger Andre Burakovsky who fits our style of play. We ship a trio of young talented players to complete this trade but immediately improve our 2017-18 outlook. Calgary Flames are a work in progress but we're making inroads to our ultimate goal.

Bs confirm! We are selling high on Talbot who is the #1 ranked goalie in FNHL and he's got more yrs ahead of him with plenty of scoring support up front. Saros looks like the real deal and will address the lack of a goalie spec in our system. Maybe I couldve held out for more but this trade does address my team's key needs as we head into the off-season. Thx DTox.

I a trade at this time to move Cam Talbot can be classified as a Sell High situation because it's true this is the best he's ever been, he's started more games than any other goalie this year and his NHL team is in the playoffs for the first time in years. But I believe Talbot's ceiling is even higher. I can't wait to get him in a Calgary Flames uniform!
