How are you doing in the Rankings Contest?
« on: February 07, 2017, 03:56:21 PM »
I was just recently thinking about how much of a pain in the butt it's going to be to tally up the results of the Rankings Contest, when Shooter, aka, the greatest human being, dropped me a nicely formatted spreadsheet which automatically tallies up the results!

The spreadsheet assumes that Vancouver is the league champ, since they are currently seeded #1.  An upset champion would completely change the results.  But, I thought I'd share what the standings look like as of now to satisfy your curiosity:

1) TIE Detroit & Carolina 64 points
3) Boston 61 points
4) Florida 60 points
5) Chicago 53 points
6) Calgary 52 points
7) TIE St Louis & Buffalo 51 points
9) Anaheim 49 points
10) Toronto 47 points
11) Philadelphia 46 points
12) TIE Los Angeles & Colorado 45 points
14) Pittsburgh 43 points
15) Montreal 41 points

If you have a moment.  I'm curious how things look now that half the league is set in their spots.

Your actually in second place right now based on the 9th-20th spots that have already been determined. You and Detroit both picked Vancouver to win it all so you'll have to pick up points in a different way. Your odds are the best if a team other then Vancouver, St. Louis or Colorado wins it all.

Top 3 teams in the standings for the ranking contest based on the final standings for 5th thru 20th place.

1) :TOR-NHL: 52 points
2) :CAR-NHL: 51 points
4) TIE :ANA: & :BOS-NHL: 50 points

Based on the 4 remaining teams I have ran the remaining placing combinations thru the spreadsheet and here are the results:

:STL-NHL: Wins Cup over :BUF-NHL: - :STL-NHL: Wins with 64 points
:STL-NHL: Wins Cup over :EDM: - :STL-NHL: Wins with 63 points
:ANA: Wins Cup over :BUF-NHL: - :CAR-NHL: Wins with 56 points
:ANA: Wins Cup over :EDM: - :CAR-NHL: & :TOR-NHL: Tie with 55 points and it goes to Tie Breaker
:BUF-NHL: Wins Cup over :STL-NHL: - :ANA: & :BOS-NHL: Tie with 56 points and it goes to Tie Breaker
:BUF-NHL: Wins Cup over :ANA: - :CAR-NHL: Wins with 56 points
:EDM: Wins Cup over :STL-NHL: - :ANA: & :BOS-NHL: Tie with 56 points and it goes to Tie Breaker
:EDM: Wins Cup over :ANA: - :CAR-NHL: & :TOR-NHL: Tie with 56 points and it goes to Tie Breaker

So :CAR-NHL: is definitely rooting against :STL-NHL: this week because if :ANA: pulls another upset :CAR-NHL: finishes at worst with a tie breaker chance at winning the rankings contest. :TOR-NHL: needs :EDM: to win this week to have a chance. :ANA: and :BOS-NHL: needs :STL-NHL: to advance to the finals and then lose to have a chance. :STL-NHL: needs to win the title to win the rankings contest.

Wow I still have a chance after Vancouver goes down... woot!  I now have 2 reasons to root against the Ducks (the other is I want to see a NEW winner :P).

Go Oilers or Buffalo!  :)
