Gallagher - I like him, but again only score .5 points a game
Martinez - a depth player
Bjorkstrand - a nice spec with some high upside, but a lot of questions about his toughness and if he is going to be able to score on the NHL level

We are talking about a top 5, arguably top 3, fantasy player that is ONLY 25 years old.

On a fantasy points level both Eriksson and Gallagher are about 75% of Stamkos.  Gallagher is even younger than Stamkos and still has some ceiling to gain.  Then he adds a nice D piece, not depth IMO and a good spec. I think it's a good deal for Toronto overall.

Ryan, I wouldn't make this trade in DNHL.  Depth is too important with 5 extra NHL starting spots.  In that league I would say Toronto is killing it in the deal.  In this league, I think it's even.

I didn't even blink when I saw the deal and was just waiting for Rob to accept before I approved. Love the return for Toronto and think the new GM is acting shrewdly. Bjorkstrand is a fabulous piece added to a trio of quality NHL players. Let's keep in mind that cap is king and it's just not that easy to move $7.9m off the books in a single move. This really gives Toronto some desperately needed depth and flexibility for further moves.

I agree with Slack's assessment. I think its a good haul for Stammer. If I moved Crosby (which I totally could) I would be looking for a similar deal.

Also Eriksson production should go up with Lucic out of the picture plus he is dual position.

This is an amazing deal for both teams! Gallagher and Martinez are really good pieces to build off of. Bjorkstrand is definitely a top prospect. And I believe Ericsson just had an off year. Trading stamkos is a risk, but the combined ppg total of the three players Toronto is obtaining far outweighs the thoughts of trading stamkos, especially on a team in desperate need of depth like Toronto.

Got to hand it to rob though - he has the depth to obtain a player like stamkos, and pulled the trigger unlike previous Boston regimes that played it safe. Very solid move that should help catapult Boston to contender status.
