Hurricanes and Flyers Trade

Hurricanes send:  Logan Couture and Nick Kerdilies

For

Flyers:  1st pick in this years draft and Hurricanes 1st round pick next year.

I really wanted to get in the top of this years draft to scoop up a premo talent and this is what it took.

agree.  I'm trying to be competitive and I think Couture will be just as good or better than who I can get with the 1st pick.  Obviously if McDavid or Eichel were available I'd hang on the pick but looking at who is available I believe this is a solid deal.  Kerdiles has good upside and probably would be as good as who I'd use the Carolina pick next year on.

I don't really get this deal from Carolina's perspective...but both Gypsie and Papps are great and knowledge owners, so I trust their judgement.

If i am completely transparent i got the first pick to get Andrew Hammond.  Scrivens and Ward are both in timeshares with the likelyhood that they could be backups.  Hammond has a real shot at being a starter.  It is a longshot he is this great goalie for the next 5 years, but nobody is willing to trade starting goalies in this league and i needed one.  Plus i have so so so many good forwards to pay this price.

I don't really love this deal either for Carolina.  Even with Hammond being in there, not sure that it's worth Couture, but

 

for one reason...Gypsie is a stud owner.  I only veto when I feel like someone if hurting the overall league.  This deal is not that.
