Two powerhouse teams agree to a deal...
« on: May 10, 2011, 02:45:10 PM »
The Phillies and the A's have come to terms on an agreement:

A's receive:

MI Hill, Aaron, $3m (2014)
OF McCutchen, Andrew, $0.5m (P-2012)
OF Gardner, Brett, $0.5m (P-2012)

Phillies receive:

OF Fowler, Dexter, $0.5m (P-2012)
OF Coghlan, Chris, $0.5m (P-2012)
MI Escobar, Yunel, $6.5m (2012)
A's pay 3.5m for Escobar in 2011, 2m for 2012.
CI Parker, Stephen, $0.5m (P-n/a)

It was really really hard to trade McCutchen but I feel like I got a good return.  If Coghlan stays healthy and he and Fowler continue to produce I feel its a solid deal for me.  I favor Escobar slightly over Hill and I feel like I got a good prospect in Parker.  Time will tell if I made the right move but I feel like its a solid deal between two good GM's.

Thanks Rob for the negotiations!  Very professional and I appreciate it!   :toth:

A's to confirm.

The A's confirm the deal.

The key here is McCutch, I need a guy in the OF that I can lean on for years.  I believe he is that guy.  Coghlan and Fowler are both having great years, but I am hoping that I am buying low on both McCutch and Garnder.  Both BABIP should come back to normal, if they can both cut down on the K's.

Our Jays MI Swap is about even, both score very similar in the scoring system.  I take on a little more with Hill as injury risk, but Escobar has not been a picture of health himself.  Parker was an add in, very good hitting prospect with the A's, has his doubters, but he keeps hitting.

Chris great working with you on this, very easy negotiating with.  It was a pleasure.

I am all smiles on Cutch.  Hill returns to Oak, I think he spent a week with us last year before shipping to NYY for Cano.

  • DaveW: the problem with Premier League dynasty is that players get transferred from Premier League to France, Germany, etc.  And its not like baseball where only mediocre players move from MLB to KBO or NPB.
