Trade: LAA & COL
« on: April 10, 2011, 08:18:23 PM »
P Colvin, Brody, $0.5m (P-n/a)
C Treanor, Matt, $0.5m (2011), signed 3/31/11
CI-MI Murphy, Donnie, $0.5m (2011), signed 3/31/11

for

RP Adam, Jason, $0.5m (P-n/a) (KC-SP)
SP Lowe, Derek, $4.5m (2012)
3M in 2011, 3M in 2012

LAA to confirm (Is the two week limit in effect? If so, it won't get processed until that time is up)

Lowe is exchanged for a starting C, SS/3B, and a top 100 prospect. Plus, LAA saves 1.5M next year, if Murphy and Treanor are not retained.

I am very very high on Colvin, he had a tough start last year, but by the end of the year, he was better than May and Cosart.

LAA to confirm.

Don't those "player signed" dates make this trade illegal?

Quote
Trading Recently Signed Free Agents
Free Agent signings cannot be traded until 60 days after they have signed.  This date will be shown per each player in the official rosters section.

Correct... 60 days; we'll leave this up for a day or so and then move it to Invalid.

Yeah I think you are right.

The 60 day no trade rule and not allowing to trade draft picks are two of the stupiest rules in this otherwise wonderful league. Rather than getting owners to field full teams, the rule commitee should review and abolish these two trading rules.

Personally I think the 60 day rule is a good one - can you elaborate on why you dislike it?  I think we all enjoyed trading draft picks, but the current rule is realistic and adds a different strategy to accumulating picks via RFA's.

60 day rule: what's the point of this rule? I can trade player A 10 times in a day as long as player A was not signed in the past 60 days, but I can't do so if player A was signed 59 days ago?

Trading draft pick rule: this one is just dumb. Draft picks are currencies just like players. Not allowing trading of picks closes another door for teams trying to contend or rebuild. If I am the Mets or the Angels, I'd trade away as many pieces as I can for picks in the upcoming draft. Most people dislike the fact that MLB forbids trading of picks. We should emulate everything that's good about the MLB, not retarded rules such as this one.

I personally disagree, but maybe others wont.  If you want to have the rules reviewed you should consider starting a new thread on the main board - many people might miss it here.
