I think that they should be allowed trades but not extensions just because we can extend the deadline as it has not passed I would be unhappy if say they offer a trade for someone who I just traded for rental value but they are allowed to resign them and the team I traded the player to gets keeper value. I mean I think drew could have gotten way more for Stafford if I could resign him. I think they will have way more cap space to sign players then any of us and I think that will even it out big time I don't see why the people who have been here from the beginning shouldn't have a crack at their players because there was a GM in place and there have been a few trades with them so they could have resigned their players but chose not too thats not our fault. I really am against allowing them to resign players I know that I wouldn't have made a few moves if I knew that we were going to let the new GM's resign players I would not have traded Upshall if I knew that we were going to let the new GM's resign players I also wouldn't have done the 9 player trade me and Drew did.

I agree on letting to new owners make extensions but not trades. I also think nobody with a team in this league should be making moves for other teams or signing the extensions. It is a conflict of interest.
CHI
Well I am the commish I would do things out of best interest of the league because I want the league to be a success. But yes we will search for GMs as of right now and if worse comes to worse I may have to sign extensions for those teams. I don't think trades would be all that fair, they can do them off-season and maintain the same team.

Yes this is very true. They will have lots of room to sign free agents during the free agency period. Ya their GMs had chances to re-sign their players, especially Philly. See about further talk about this.

How about this: All new GMs get ONE DAY (24 hours) to resign any players they want on their current roster. They will not be aloud to make any trades in that 24 hour period. Once the period is over, they cannot sign extensions until the next extension period. After that, they have a week to make trades and whatever to take their team to budget.

Don't get me wrong, I would have LOVED a chance at Remier or Byfuglien, but I also think knowing that these new players can have a chance at knowing they will have a decent team coming in is incentive for them to join our league. I agree on the fact that a lot of the deals we made might not have been made, but we also cannot punish the new guys for the problems the old GMs made. We need to give them a chance to be active, and allowing a small period (24 hours is enough for someone to get on and make a few calculations as to what they need, budget, etc etc) to correct this, in my opinion, is incentive enough.

I will give 2 more hours for discussion on this topic as yes the trade deadline is approaching. That would be 2am EST. At that time I will make an executive decision on the matter, based on all the information provided here. Pretty put as much information here. Please keep in consideration, we are currently in going into the 6th week of our season and there is 8 weeks total. I will post my reasons as well when I make my decision.

Yes I want them to be active and I don't think that they should be punished but I don't think that we should be punished for the past GM's inactivity and not be competitive next because I will not be able to sign the depth guys that I have spent countless hours scouting for the past 3 or so weeks so What if we give them the first 2 picks in the entry draft gives them a good prospect and gives incentive to join our league yet doesn't effect us too much. I wouldn't have taken on any of my rentals if I knew this would happen even after Drew told me that he would not let it happen.

After reviewing all the information here is my verdict.
New GMs will not be allowed to make extensions or trades and must abide by all rules and deadlines in the league.

Reasons:
1)We do not know when a GM will be coming in to join Toronto or Philly
2) These teams will have large abundances of cash to toss around in free agency and create themselves a respectable team.
3) Deadlines are deadlines and we should stick to them.
4) Teams have made moves in respect to the free agents heading to market.
5) In the real NHL if a team isn't put together well (see Ottawa), if the GM is fired the new GM coming in doesn't get special privileges.
6) The previous GMs had their chance to re-sign free agents and chose not too.

Just to clarify, we are not punishing GMs that are coming in as they both will be able, with activity and effort on their part, to construct respectable teams through free agency. Too bad this didn't happen sooner in our season where we found "bad" GMs but we have to do what we have to do. I am sure they will be good franchises and with the cash they have will be able to make huge moves in the off-season.

Hopefully everyone can understand, Thanks Drew

In the sign up sheet just post the situation of both teams. At least then you will know that you probably have recruited a couple good GMs who are willing to work out of a tough situation :)  :toast:
