Detroit confirms this deal.

This isn't the first time Tyler has come calling when Tavares was placed on the block and boy did he bring it this time when making offers. I like my team and I plan on making a deep run in the playoffs, so why would I offer one of my best players? To shake things up of course, to see what the offers would be. This offer made it hard not to trade Tavares. Pacioretty and McDonagh are studs and Ellis and Holland have great upside, and Nilsson is a solid G prospect.

Great dealing with you Tyler! If I meet you in the playoffs, I might regret giving you point getters like Tavares, Staal, and Giordano, but until then, good deal.
