Commissioner ruling on players eligible for both Free Agency and the Draft (players with 1-39 NHL games played) is that players drafted before a Free Agent bid closes (48 hours of inactivity after last bid) is property of the drafting team and the bids for that player become inactive.
My rational for this ruling is due to the timing of our draft and free agency this year. Prior years in Backyard featured a draft that was completed before free agency had begun. If we had been on a normal timeline, that would have been the case again. The only reason that the draft and free agency overlap this year is because of the limited amount of time we have before the NHL season begins.
