yeah, everyone should take note that free agent bidding should be reasonable ... rules can change season-over-season and if say defensemen and goalies extensions are devalued starting next year or the number of starting goalies gets decreased from 2 to 1 in 2013-14 who's going to want to acquire your 12m goalie or 8m defenseman.

these are examples of possible changes a present or future commish can make.

but of course everyone's got their strategy so ...

As in every year a player retires, this year Nick Lidstrom retired and he is on my team. I was wondering if we have a process this goes through or once a player retires is the contract therefore voided or null?

Here is the actual current CBA rule:
The NHL CBA provides that a player's contract does not count against the salary cap if that player retires

Just wondering what our process will be before I take action with Nick Lidstrom.

i've tabled that for rule clarification with Sizz (when he's back...).
it's a topic in COMMISSIONER's CORNER.

hold lidstrom as you may benefit at the start of the season when we foresee rule clarification rule adjustments for 2012-13 to take effect.  :toast:

Regarding trades in FNHL can we make conditional trades with players or draft picks to be named later. I looked through the rules and couldn't find anything prohibiting conditional trades. Can you let me know if it's possible.

Thank you!

...can we make conditional trades with players or draft picks to be named later. ...

not possible in fnhl as TC needs to vote to pass the deal so if it's not a final package, TC cannot vote, therefore no trade.

bottomline, no.
good Q nonetheless.  :toast:

Since our salary cap mirrors the NHL, if the new CBA lowers the cap and includes a salary rollback %, would we also have a salary rollback to remain complaint?

great question. as i'm not going to make in-season rule changes, if an actual NHL roll-back were to be imposed starting with the 2012-13 NHL season, Franchise NHL would likely keep the current 70.3m cap thru the season and make any necessary cap change for the 2013-14 season.

i do not think in-season rule changes should be intro'ed unless it's to address a serious leaguewide issue that's detrimental to the activity, enjoyment, fairness of most ppl.

aside: that said, the FNHL goalie situation will be reviewed and a rule change is likely forth coming next season - it'll be posted for review and well in advance.

there are currently 2 FNHL section issues that need to be fixed by Profsl site admins

1) :MTL-NHL: redirects to :NYI: ... an error created by an incorrect "fix" to MTL's header which is still missing

2) our FNHL Fantrax re-direct has an invalid URL after the Fantrax image was removed as part of a site wide sweep of those fantrax images.

i hope to have these 2 issues resolved by mid-wk.
