I wanted to move Rittich because I won't be able to afford him and keep my team together next year. Stone will give me an upgrade on Ryan for my playoff run and next year as well. I should get Schnieder back before the playoffs so I don't think the loss of Rittich will hurt too bad.

Minnesota gets a young goalie who's payed well in the Backup role this year. Bobby Ryan will also be able to be resigned in the offseason for the minimum which should add some flexibility for them.

Carolina has made a concerted effort to claim the 2017-18 FNHL Championship and this is another fine example of that. Stone could well be the player that puts the Hurricanes over the top. Minnesota was well compensated with a package of assets to build a stronger team heading into 2018-19.
