I'm still really pissed at the NHL. I've been thinking long and hard about returning, not because of the league but because us fans need to make a statement. Honestly I don't plan on watching any games this year. And maybe not next year either. I grew up playing hockey and have been a fan for 30 years. But the owners and players can both shove it if you ask me. IMO reasons that these things happen is they bet on us fans running right back like nothing happened.
Pigs, you run a great league and for that reason I will play this shortened season unless you have an owner that would love to run the Flyers. I am not ready yet to commit beyond this season though.
yeah, they should let us at least get the NHL center ice package for free, but they obviously only care about money, not fans.
strange to see so many NHL GM handing out new longterm deals for big money yet their owners are crying poor yet again.
Scrap the Salary Cap and throw in the Baseball model, spend what you want, but if you go over a set max, you pay a luxury tax. Teams like and could easily spend double what the current cap is, but teams like are poor and struggle to reach the floor. Since the last Lockout, the cap has risen from 40 to 70M. 16 Players have contracts lasting at least a decade. Wild are saying they were poor, but spent huge money on 2 FA's. Bettman is a real piece of work too. The guy doesn't care, is going to cancel the Winter Classic and for sure the whole season. The guy is ruthless, wants players to take a 20% cut. The owners think they have all the leverage, but the players can just play oversees for this year. BTW, another option: Revenue sharing has worked out just fine in Baseball, it helps the struggling franchises and allows better parity throughout the league. This will also lead to high cap ceilings and higher player salaries in the long haul. A team like would have no interest, but maybe it could work better than what they have now.

there are 2 sometime 3 days a week that the nhl would have a full enough schedule that you may have to make a choice between goalies. If you are on dial up it might take you 5 mins to check one of those sites and adjust your goalie for the night so a total of 15 mins in a week, on dial up.

Why not just start a new league, with all these changes that you guys want, especially the new guys, why not just start over. Commish is on for 1 year, multiple owners are on 1 year deals, what is the point? Same one's are the one's trying to change everything. I doubt there is even a season this year, so it may be all for not and everyone is gone and same problems. This is turning into Northern League Part Deux!
Wow. I leave for a long weekend, come back expecting some goalies to be floating around and BOOM... $50m for a guy that is a back-up on a sub-par team with a good prospect youngster in waiting in the wings? JEEZ!
Not to mention Victor Fasth... A 29-year old rookie on a 1-year contract who is a backup to a workhorse of a starting goaltender... And who could be the next Jonas Gustavsson, for over 5m per year?
