Rob/Dan,I am sorry, I do not know where Colby got that idea. Perhaps, he was thinking about prospect extensions. We use the written rules in cases like this. The re-sign deadlines are treated as strictly as the trade deadline.Roy
That is crap. I have had plans to resign Jordan Zimmerman for months now, but since the former commissioner and CEO of the site posted I get time after the season, I decided to hold off. I will continue to push this issue. That is not fair.
1. Jordan Zimmerman is a prospect and can be re-signed after the season. See following rule:Prospect extensions on expired prospect contracts will be the only type of extensions allowable for expired contracts in the offseason. Therefore, after the 2011 regular season is over, a P-2011 contract is still eligible for the prospect extension at the 2011 rate. This window for prospect extensions is open until one week prior to the beginning of offseason free agency.2. The words of anyone, including the Commissioner, former Commissioners, or the CEO of the site itself is not above the written rules of the league. That has always been the policy. I don't wish to re-hash the whole prospect extension issue from my first year in the league when Colby made me a personal assurance as Commissioner that I could re-sign players on non-prospect contracts to prospect extensions only to be over-ruled by other members of the league.
Last season it was the end of the MLB seasonhttp://www.profsl.com/smf/index.php?topic=34737.msg177622#msg177622
