I guess it's would end up being 3 years, 1.5 per.

Don't see how a $4m bid equals one for $4.5m. No offense but not looking for a guess on this. I'd like to know with certainty.

PR can clarify but if someone posted a $4m smart ass bid we'd decide to bump it to 3yrs at $2m per or 3yrs at $1.5m depending on how we felt that day.

4m willing bid could be judged to be a contract of
4m divided by 2 = $2m but any value over 1.5m per yr is automatically 3yrs in length.

Take that same 4m winning bid and divide it by 3yrs = is invalid at 1.333333m so it gets bumped to 3yr at 1.5m

If we feel the bidder was being a smartass and handing us extra work, we'd go with the higher contract value of 3yr at $2m or the same as a $6m winning bid :judge:

So an entirely subjective ruling depending on how you feel about it. How incredibly Bush League. It would be far better to standardize and avoid messy disputes over interpretation.

If an invalid bid is made (whatever the reason) it should be ruled invalid and no one will take issue. But rules made up as we go on a case by case basis are a recipe for conflict that could otherwise be avoided with a clear and simple statement.

A $4m bid is invalid.

haha, maybe if you had posting standards, like total contract and years, it would be easier for everyone. That would probably be too easy.

not all that subective... if a nub posts a 4m bid, i would pass it off as learning curve. if an experienced profsler posted that same 4m contract, bought out the same player x3, theyd get the 6m total contract value applied.

we can all figure out who is playing a good game or abusing the system and giving us extra work.

For me, an experienced member of this site, the rule and the expectations were unclear. That is what caused me to ask the question in the first place. Because as far as I can tell abusing the buy-out system is encouraged. Let's not forget the debate around the loophole.

Personally I would like to see a change of attitude towards refining and clarifying the rules. Let's aim higher and work together to make this league as good and as professional as it can possibly be.
