I'm not on the trade committee but I think this trade is crazy lopsided.  Malkin had a terrible season last year, and without a freak knee injury would've had a more productive season that Chris Stewart has ever had.  A straight up trade makes sense, because the cap dump compensates for the skill difference between the 2 players, but to also add a 1st round pick seems too much.  Just my 2 cents as a fellow manager.

after looking up Malkin, I didn't realize he was so injured.

The thing is is that he seems so injury proned, though I do kind of agree that he is ertainly better when healthy.

I'd like to retract my bid for the being, if I'm allowed.

You also have to consider that Stew was injured almost all last yr too then eh! When healthy he is a PPG or more player. I think in the other trade (MTL Trade) that went through we set a precident that the cap dump allows for a bigger gap, if we let that deal go through, I dont see why this one gets un-approved.

Not that this trade affects me directly, but just my opinion that a 6 million cap save is a HUGE bonus as they can be 2 more good players. And it seems Stewart is being under-estimated a bit here as he is a start RW in fantasy terms

Stewart has yet to be a ppg player, he is close and he's getting better every year, but Malkin is proven to be more than a ppg player. I'm not under-estimating Stewart, he is a great young talent on the rise, but he is yet to show he can produce at more than a ppg, maybe he would have last year, but'll we can't know that now. Also I thought from the get-go that the Montreal trade was even, and the cap space gained was only a few mil per year. I'm fine with deals that save Cap, I approved the Sabres/Pens trade no problem, but this is a different thing entirely. I've been thinking about this one really hard and I veto.

Just my 2 cents.  1) Stud RW are much harder to find than Centers. 2) Stewart has only played 2 years in the NHL and has improved every year.  3) Stewart hits more 4) If you look at the production from last year Stewart was scoring at a higher pace per game.  oh and 6 million cheaper.

The other thing I will point out is that Cho34 is currently running 15 fantasy teams. It is not like he is a newbie.

I also checked fantasy points for both in the last 2 years

Chris Stewart 2010 - 205.2    2009 - 260.95

Malkin --- 2010 - 151.7   2009 -- 275.5

after reconsidering 2 times i decide to allow this trade. The players are pretty even. a late first round for an early 4th round is just so he would take the cap space IMO.

Considering that Malkin is like $6M more, I will allow.

  • ldsjayhawk: Trading should be a win-win situation for both teams.

  • dbreer23: Agreed. I think the Devers deal in FGM is a good example of that. Devers gives SD some now (and future) pop, giving up substantial pieces to get him (Mayo, Keith, and one other).

  • Brent: Agreed.  I have Amon Ra St. Brown and Aiyuk because I traded JJ.  I couldn't have acquired a player like ASB where I was picking in the 1st so I down tiered at WR to make a trio of Chase, ASB and Aiyuk instead of JJ, Chase and fill in the blank.
  • ldsjayhawk: That is probably even more true in baseball since your drafts don't payoff for 5 years or so.  And I will admit my conservatism may be the reason I only have one championship here at ProFSL

  • Brent: I'm contemplating doing a complete tear down in NFL Live and rebuild.  Honestly, I probably should have postered for it to be this season.  I still might, but I would legit need to go into the draft with 3-4 top 10 picks/+ many others.

  • Brent: postured

  • Jwalkerjr88: Yea nailing drafts and some key FAs helps too. But if you remember BAB you traded alvin kamara for the rams 1-7 draft picks. So the extra picks helped you nail the 2023 draft the way you did

  • Jwalkerjr88: Its the combination of all three that is required is what im saying
    Yesterday at 03:13:31 PM
  • Jwalkerjr88: And brent a tear down with you assets would look interesting. Personally i just think you need break one big asset down into 3 good ones and move carr and go from there. But you have an A1 nfl mind so im sure you will nail whatever it is you decide

  • BayAreaBallers: very good pt yes i did gain lot of capital which propelled me to make more moves from that trade
    Yesterday at 03:34:25 PM
  • Brent: Thank you.  Yes, I agree.  I do need to break one asset down to 3.  I did that with JJ, went from S tier to 2 A tiers.  Now I need to potentially go from an A tier to 3 Bs or something like that.  I've had some inquiries on Carr, but nothing worth moving him.
