Starting in 2016-17 when contracts roll over freshly in early August, FNHL is introducing the Franchise Player home-town discount.* Teams designate 2 players annually in August (contract roll-over period) * Max 2 Franchise Players any given time* Who qualifies (A) Drafted by the FNHL team (not acquired through trade of MiLR player) or (B) Plays for same NHL team as FNHL team * 25% discount* Players receive No Movement clause (No trade, No Buy out) - stays on the roster until off-season * Only valid while player plays for the team (a trade voids the discount)* Buy out during the off-season is applied to the discounted contract value* Designation on Team Page will be:Sidney Crosby, $4.2m (2012-2016-FP-5.6:PIT-NHL:)Alex Ovechkin, $7.2m (2013-2018-FP-9.5:WAS-NHL3:)Claude Giroux, $6.0m (2014-2018-FP-7.9:PHI-NHL:) Drew Doughty, $5.3m (2013-2017-FP-7.0:LAK:)FP - denotes Franchise Player with 25% contract discount applied
So, are players with contracts ending in 2015-16 ineligible for this after their contract expires?
How does this affect the players currently in our minors. (ps. i have no idea who was drafted originally by the Montreal GM's and who has been traded for)
another question. our max is two Ftag players, but they have a no movement clause. Can you switch players you want your FTag applied to in the offseason Say I have Crosby and Malkin on a Ftag but then suddenly Rory Fitzpatrick comes out of retirement signs with the Pittsburgh Penguins. Could I in the offseason r-allot my FTAG from Malkin to Rory Fitzpatrick?
