Smoak is a friend of my family and sent me a txt saying "You'll never believe this." I txted back, but he of course didn't go into anymore detail. I hate to hear this from a fntsy and real life standpoint. Seattle's offense is terrible and Smoak will be asked to do a lot. Justin also loves the south and I go hunting with him during the offseason every once in awhile, so to hear that he is going to the Pacific Northwest where it is cold and rainy depresses me. This just yet another instance that makes you come back from fantasy land and realize that baseball is a business.

SI's Heyman is saying the Yankees offer was basically take it or leave it.  I wonder if the Yankees were thinking the Mariners were just gonna fall into their offer, or maybe they should have been a little more flexible?

They didn't necessarily need the pitching, but I wonder if the Yankees are guilty of some inflated heads here?

The Yankees did tell the M's that their last offer was the last and best. However, the YES Network reported that the Yankees were not going to acquire Lee because a new team (the Rangers) had entered the sweepstakes aggressively. The Yankees offer was reportedly Jesus Montero, David Adams, and Zach McAllister. Supposedly the deal-breaker was that the M's unsure of Adams' health in the long-term and declined the trade.

This is a great trade for the M's. They now have a young core of Smoak (Aubrey get me an auto), Saunders, and Ackley. I don't know why the Rangers would give up Smoak for a few months of Lee, because we all know he will end up in NY come next season. Bronx or Queens.

And yes Davis got recalled, look at out for both Moreland and the prospect Chad Tracy (Jim's son) should Davis, suck as usual.

If Lee pushes the Rangers into the playoffs then it is a success.  They have the deepest farm in all of baseball and the price of winning cannot be undermined.
