We accept pre-rankings for a reason... this is a free fantasy league too... if you are three picks away then post your top three and call it a day.

This is what I think. Of course I was really upset that I missed my pick, because I was really looking forward to getting Bauer since I live in AZ and like his freakishnish. That being said the rules are the rules and I should have sent a proxy list. Just being so busy with my first week of teaching it got lost in translation. Here are some ideas....

A) I think in the first two rounds we increase the time to 12 hours, third and fourth eight hours, fifth and sixth six hours and the rest at four hours.

B) Since the first and second rounds are pretty important with a lot of signing bonus' we should be able to be able to re-pick if no more than three teams have picked after the auto-pick. This way if gives a little extra time and it also does not really affect the other proxy lists.

C)The rounds after the second should not be auto picked and allow the team to draft when they get on. If it gets to the end of the next round and the team still has not picked, the pick will be auto-picked. i.e...I miss my pick in the 4th round, the 5th round finishes and I still have not picked, then I get auto-picked.

This will make the later rounds quicker and since they are such a crapshoot then it will not make as much of a difference. The adjustments to the earlier rounds will just allow people to really try to get what they want. I mean most workdays are longer than 8 hours and sometimes you forget to send a list (i.e. me this year)...just some thoughts.

I submit that even if picks are made after an auto pick, that pick can be changed as long as the re-picked player has not been selected already.

Advantage: you can shorten the window to 4 hours inthe later rounds and you wouldn't get any complaints about missied picks. By that point, there is not a lot of differentiation between the players.

As to point one, I disagree as the auto-picked player may have been coveted by a team that had to choose a different player...it could start a very unpleasant domino effect.  We should not be able to retroactively make selections.

As for point two, I also disagree.  I guess I just don't understand what the rush always is with these drafts.  It's August, baseball doesn't start up again until February.  For those that spend countless hours scouring amateur talent, later round picks are where many feel the cream separates from the pack, so to speak.  As evidenced by my track record of drafting, I am not one of these well-informed amateur guys, but I still think they should have the opportunity to treat the final rounds as importantly as the first rounds, should they so choose.

The Astros picked at 11:59 am yesterday.  Does that mean we need at least 2 more auto-picks since it's been nearly 20 hours since then?

  • indiansnation: 2:15PM: The Dodgers announced this afternoon that they’ve placed right-hander Yoshinobu Yamamoto on the 15-day injured list with triceps tightness. The club also placed right-hander Michael Grove on the 15-day injured list due to lat tightness. In corresponding moves, the club has recalled right-hander J.P. Feyereisen and selected the contract of right-hander Michael Petersen. To make room for Petersen on the 40-man roster, the Dodgers transferred right-hander Joe Kelly to the 60-day injured list.

  • indiansnation: Mookie Betts was hit on the left hand by a Dan Altavilla fastball today, causing Betts to drop to the ground in immediate pain and then leave the game.  Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told reporters (including Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times) after the game that Betts has a fractured bone in the hand and will be out of action “for some time,” though the former AL MVP won’t require surgery.
