Not that I would make one, but isn't there a window for other teams to make a claim before it's final?

That's what I am confused about...in says 72 once the claim is made to come to a deal... so if it is 72 hours after a claim is made, and I only have 72 hours to make a deal, kind of contradicts itself no?

72 hours for everyone to make a claim and then 72 hours to make a deal with the claim winner...

In general, the waiver rules need to be completely revised.  I don't remember how we got to what we have now, but obviously there a number of issues.  I think we need a window for teams to make claims, just like we have for FA, since it can't be a first come / first serve if the waiving team is willing to jettison the player - owners need a chance to make a claim, following the correct process of awarding the claims.

Personally, I'd be all for moving waivers back a week or two and getting these things figured out first, or even bagging it for this year.  I'm not a fan of making what may be significant transactions without a clear understanding of what the rules should be... we may have something in place, but given the recent discussion and questions I don't think anyone would argue at this point that the rules are comprehensive.

Ben, please take it to the RC.  It isn't first come first serve.. our waiver rules dictate 72 hour period for claiming and then 72 hours for a decision to be made.  Paulino is available.
