TEAM - FLD%  - OPS  - RC - SO/BB  - WHIP - SCORE
New York Yankees  - 0.977 - 0.795 - 12 - 1.13 - 1.786 - 4
Boston Red Sox  - 1 - 0.758 - 12.6 - 1 - 1.167 - 8

Philadelphia Phillies  - 0.987 - 0.675 - 9.3 - 3.67 - 1.105 - 8
Milwaukee Brewers  - 0.985 - 0.932 - 12.5 - 1.67 - 1.7 - 4

The Yankees just need to close the gap in runs to take this one.  The Phillies are all pitching right now.  That and solid defense will push them to another NL pennant.  Meanwhile, the Brewers will need to win one of the pitching categories to move on.

TEAM - FLD%  - OPS  - RC - SO/BB  - WHIP - SCORE
New York Yankees  - 0.979 - 0.784 - 14.6 - 2 - 1.624 - 6
Boston Red Sox  - 1 - 0.802 - 19.1 - 1.89 - 1.722 - 6

Philadelphia Phillies  - 0.982 - 0.709 - 14.1 - 4.5 - 1.148 - 11
Milwaukee Brewers  - 0.978 - 0.828 - 13.6 - 1.5 - 1.703 - 1

The ALCS is as close as you can get.  The Red Sox need pitching, but the Yankees aren't that impressive with their 1.6 WHIP.  Really, only the Phillies are pitching well.  As long as they hold their ground, the Phillies will advance to the World Series against the Yankees or Red Sox.  My money is on the currently leading New York Yankees.

The Red Sox have been the victors over the Yankees this decade.  They are a couple days away from their third World Series appearance in as much time.  The 2004 and 2007 champs are projected to face the 2008 champs, the Philadelphia Phillies.  One dynasty running into another...

TEAM - FLD%  - OPS  - RC - SO/BB  - WHIP - SCORE
New York Yankees  - 0.979 - 0.784 - 14.6 - 2 - 1.624 - 0
Boston Red Sox   - 1 - 0.855 - 25.6 - 2.7 - 1.556 - 12

Philadelphia Phillies  - 0.978 - 0.733 - 18.9 - 3.5 - 1.229 - 9
Milwaukee Brewers  - 0.982 - 0.801 - 17.1 - 1.5 - 1.575 - 3

New York Yankees  - 0.98 - 0.846 - 30.9 - 2.65 - 1.261 - 10
Boston Red Sox  - 1 - 0.782 - 28.9 - 2.06 - 1.788 - 2

Philadelphia Phillies  - 0.978 - 0.678 - 23 - 3.21 - 1.295 - 6
Milwaukee Brewers  - 0.98 - 0.845 - 25.3 - 2.56 - 1.303 - 6

Congrats to the Yankees and Phillies who advance to the World Series!  The Yankees' offense picked it up and took the show away from the Red Sox.  Congratulations!

TEAM - FLD%  - OPS  - RC - SO/BB  - WHIP - SCORE
New York Yankees  - 0.985 - 1.015 - 12.6 - 3.67 - 0.667 - 7
Philadelphia Phillies  - 0.989 - 0.861 - 15.3 - 2.1 - 1.64 - 5

Tight series... and it is unwritten in the rules (playoffs need to be a bit more defined, but they follow the MLB rules to the T) but the Yankees have home-field advantage since the AL won the Allstar game.  Phillies pitching has been rock solid throughout the playoffs though, so this one could turn on a dime!

TEAM - FLD%  - OPS  - RC - SO/BB  - WHIP - SCORE
New York Yankees  - 0.988 - 0.945 - 15.5 - 2.63 - 1.161 - 9
Philadelphia Phillies  - 0.984 - 0.936 - 23.2 - 2.27 - 1.483 - 3

It is still a very tight series, and the Phils can control their pitching, then they will start to run away with this one.  They have already put 23 runs on the board in four days!

We are still waiting for the Phillies to start pitching better, but it's tough to oust the Yankees' performance right now.

TEAM - FLD%  - OPS  - RC - SO/BB  - WHIP - SCORE
New York Yankees  - 0.985 - 0.863 - 24.5 - 2.57 - 1.374 - 7
Philadelphia Phillies  - 0.991 - 0.805 - 32.8 - 1.72 - 1.589 - 5

CONGRATULATIONS to the 2009 World Champion New York Yankees!  The team had the fire power all year long, and beat the reigning NL and World Series Champion Philadelphia Phillies with pitching and defense, something that led the Phillies to both their championship last year and their World Series berth this year.

Jim Coombs, jcoombs16, hardly had to manage the team as the offense was loaded and the pitching was sound.  Jim made a few FA moves and trades, but the only two players that contributed down the stretch were the lesser known names of their acquisitions. Bud Norris (2.20 K/BB, 1.273 WHIP in playoffs) and Russ Springer (4.00 K/BB, 1.364 WHIP) only pitched just over 14 innings in the playoffs, but their strong peripherals helped net the Yanks three winning weeks in a row.  The players that provided the most were the big names that came in over the winter.   In the playoffs:

Mark Teixeira:  1.170 OPS, 18.4 RC, 0.993 FLD%
C.C. Sabathia: 1.54 K/BB, 1.310 WHIP in 23.2 IP
A.J. Burnett: 2.80 K/BB, 1.417 WHIP in 24 IP

Once again, congrats to Jim for a job well done.  I look to see some big moves by all this winter.  The first season was a success, and there is a lot that we can build on in this league!
