The Nationals and Twins have agreed to the following:

Twins receive:
Mier, Jiovanni, $0.5m (P-n/a)
Tabata, Jose, $0.5m (P-n/a)
Maxwell, Justin, $0.5m (P-2012)

Nationals receive:
Rios, Alex, $10.5m (2014)
X-OF Rios, Alex, Cash from TOR: Blue Jays will pay $5m in 2010 and 2011, and $3m in 2012 to MIN, $-5m in 2010

This trade is going a bit against my overall team strategy, so I'll explain. With acquiring Boesch, I'm comfortable with the Morgan/Maier/Pie mix for my 3rd outfielder. I like Rios for two big reasons, the first that he is signed at a good price for the next two years, and second in that I feel he will produce as well as he has for the duration of that contract. Being a White Sox fan is a plus also.

Maxwell is a minor league trekker who is nearing thirty, Mier looks to be a solid MI within the next 3-5 years, and Tabata should be a centerpiece with Alvarez in the Pirates franchise for years. However, I really think Rios has found his home in Chicago and will be very productive for the coming years.

i did this because i give rios who i like but i get 2 good young prospects and maxwell who could help a little.
