Yankees / Cubs deal

[jcoombs16]

While everyone is posting their June 1st deals for the holiday weekend, I may as well add this one... Cubs to accept.

Yankees Trading to :CHC:
C Varitek, Jason, $1m (2010)
MI Reyes, Jose, $6m (2011)
OF Duran, Juan, $0.5m (P-n/a)
P Withrow, Chris, $0.5m (P-n/a)
7-30 NYY
8-30 NYY
9-13 NYY (from TOR)
9-30 NYY
10-4 NYY

 for

C Marson, Lou, $0.5m (P-n/a)
MI-OF Raburn, Ryan, $1.0m (2011)
OF Green, Grant, $0.5m (P-n/a) + $10m bonus in 2010
P Holt, Brad, $0.5m (2011)
3-8 CHC
4-6 CHC

Cubs wanted Varitek and Reyes, so I picked up a utility reserve guy in Raburn as well as two top prospects to add to my new farm.

Isn't Grant Green a SS?

I agree.... Reyes may be turning it around.  Varitek is the catcher I need for this year.  I lose two top prospects in Green and Holt along with my picks, but this move sets up my team nicely for this year and the next.

Yeah, I'll have to update that in the spreadsheet.

I approve this trade. Trading spects is always risky, but so is Reyes at the moment.
