TRADE - Angels and A's

The Angels and A's have agreed to the following deal:

CI Ka'aihue, Kila, $0.5m (P-n/a)

for

 :LAA: receive
OF Dukes, Elijah, $0.5m (P-2010)

The A's do this deal to add additional bench help and gamble on Kila.  Kila has good power and great BB%.  Elijah has talent, but I would rather gamble on Kila at this point.  It frees up some cash for the Angels and Dukes is a good wildcard to have on the roster.

I didn't need another OF but this trade frees up a roster spot and $1.5m of cap space.  FYI to people out there, I would like another corner infielder.  I am deep in my outfield, so Dukes could be a nice surprise down the road.

Also, taking on Dobbs at $1.5m this year is deserving of an upgrade of wildcard prospects.  Trust me I did not want Dobbs, but included as incentive (money reduction) to trade Kila for Dukes.  I consider Kila an upgrade, but it seems as if the LAA prefer Dukes.

I can see both sides of this argument. I don't understand why you would trade a CI if you were in need of 1. I also don't know why you would get an OF which you are already deep in. Not mention a lot of things have to go right for Elijah such as actually producing at the MLB level AND staying out of trouble off the field. With all this being said, I approve however I would like this trade to be restructured. I do want to leave the final verdict up to the committee as a whole to ensure we do the best thing for the league.

My deal with the Pirates fixes some CI issues I have as I can move V-Mart and Polanco around now.  O'Day comes in as needed bullpen help and Dukes is simply possible value later down the road.  Dobbs, waste of space taken from Philly to get Werth, is now in Oakland's hands for good.
