Playoffs
The playoffs are based on NHL rulings in that first-round playoff matchups are based on the current NHL standings. The division winners in each conference are seeded Nos. 1-3, while the remaining five teams are seeded Nos. 4-8, according to point total. Teams are not reseeded after each round.  Playoffs will last four rounds.
...

this is yr 3 of FNHL... from the original rules, it states "Teams are not reseeded..."
based on that rule, we use match-up brackets, etc.

Ya but if you rearrange the brackets it makes a lot more sense than the second round matchups being (logically) 1 vs 2 and 3 vs 4

For his position, what site do we use?   He's more of a wing but Fantrax has him listed as a center.

[PigsRule]

per my PM CC'ing co-commish hockeyfreak47...

we use fantrax player positions to denote a player's eligibility. it's not always accurate but it's consistent.

it also avoid a commissioner having to manually edit player position eligibility every single time fantrax (or their data source) changes a player's eligibility.

Why do all the board vets complain about every damn rule. Are these rules new??? LOL

I don't understand all the whining. Peace!

does this wording mean I can choose to do a lump sum by out of a players contract?
If I can, is it a one time deal or can it be done at any point in the season as long as i have the cash on hand?
-------------------------------------------------
Releasing Players Under Contract
A buyout will occur for 66.66% of the contract value to be paid in equal installments.  This may be spread out over the years remaining in the bought-out contract.

Quote

For Example:  Lets say Pittsburgh decided to waive Sidney Crosby, $8.7m (2012).  The total contract value for Crosby would be $8.7m for three years ($26.1m).  66% of the contract value (rounded to the nearest $100k) is owed to the player, which in this case is $17.2m ($26.1m x .66 = 17.226).  This may be spread out over one, two or three years (because Sidney is signed for three years).

u can lump the buyout into 1yr or spread it over the remain yrs of the contract equally so long as your team has the cap space.

it's a good tool for when you have tons of cap yr end before contracts roll over and you can offer it to teams looking to move a huge buyout candidate.

buyouts can happen anytime... with the exception of the new amnesty buyout which is as u know only during the 2wk period after the FNHL finals.

[snugerud]

if i do a lump sum and then someone later signs that player , do i still get my discount?

[dickiedunn]

I'm sure I got a discount for all my lump sum buyouts last year. It's just that you don't benefit from the discount fully beyond the one year you've lumped the buyout into.

[snugerud]

sorry i should rephrase , do i get the discount if someone bids and signs the player.
