Old Trading Blocks

[Mr.TradeKing]

I just updated my trade block. I do also have a few spects that I wouldn't mind trading for the right price. Send any offers my way.

That never happened last year.  Player's rights can be traded just like in the majors with the expectation they sign a deal with the new team.

I know that a team had a player and signed him to a new deal and then traded that player to another team, then the team receiving that player restructed the contract.

Impossible.  I know there was a trade (perhaps it was with Jered Weaver or Josh Johnson) where the player was extended, traded, and then extended for another year.

Colby,

You are correct.  It was exactly as you stated.

[clidwin]

yeah..... should we allow that?

[Colby]

yeah..... should we allow that?

It is perfectly fine as the player simply receives more guaranteed money at their market value.

[Needle Juice]

Why not, it was an increase in years.  If the Phillies were to sign Werth to a one-year extension tomorrow and then were offered BJ Upton and Wade Davis for him, traded him the following day.  TB could then extend his contract as they wanted.

It is allowed in baseball.

Josh Johnson is a good example.
-Maybe FLA was hesitant to sign long term due to TJ surgery.  OAK is not as concerned about the injury and decides to extend the contract at the smae financial terms for a longer term.
-Maybe FLA did not sign him long term due to limited Salary Cap, he is traded a team with a better Cap going forward.  That team would consider signing him to a longer term.

Just my two cents.

Chad, have you received my recent PMs?

[Colby]

I am open to trading CI Freese, David, $0.5m (P-2012) who is a great contract hitter on a friendly prospect contract.  He and Alvarez will be in competition for the Utility slot once he is off of the DL.  It may be wise for me to trade him for a similar player at a different position such as MI or OF to optimize my lineup.

Freese traded to Cubs
