CF Dexter Fowler ($2.35m in 2013, arb in 2014)

You always have to think long and hard before trading someone like Verlander. And even more so when including a promising young SP like Drew Smyly. But the return makes too much short and long term sense for my club not to pull the trigger. I like Hellickson a lot and even though advanced statistics can't explain how he has had such fantastic success, I'm thinking that he's for real and will be an excellent big league pitcher for a long time (at a nice, cost-controlled price). I've been looking for another CF and Dexter Fowler fits the bill perfectly. Not only do I expect him to provide a great deal of production this season and next (at another very reasonable salary) but he also keeps me from having to bid to give Rick Ankiel way too much money over way too many years. Wandy Rodriguez is a short term solution at SP but he's reliable and I expect him to help this season.

And then we get to the prospects. Max Fried is coming in between #45 and #75 on most Top 100 spec lists. Jake Marisneck is coming in as low as #20 and as high as #78 on the lists I've seen. Jayson Aquino projects as a likely middle of the rotation arm. Kyle Parker is well on the road to becoming an above average big league corner OF (hits AA this year). And Jose Munoz may not stick at SS but appears to have the offensive potential to possibly play 3B long term (he was a second round pick in the last MLB draft).

I think this is going to be a great trade for both clubs - thank to the Rockies for working with me on this for the last few days.

I accept the trade. I'm in a win now mode and get the best pitcher in baseball and a very good young pitcher in Smyly.   Detroit is paying $7M of Verlander's 2013 salary to keep me under the cap since I can't trade Huston Street until June.

I am giving up a good package of young players (Hellickson and Fowler) a couple Top 100 prospects and 3 other prospects around their organizations Top 10.

Thanks to the Tigers for easy negotiations!

  • Rhino7: @Daddy, thanks for what you said lol. It was the ultimate challenge to beat JWalkerjr88 last season, I wanted my path to go through him so it makes my title run that much better! I just wanted to get to the SB and figured at that point anything can happen and lucky for me, my boys had enough left to take out BAB. Live is the most challenging league I’m in and most fun, so thanks for what you all do to make it that way.

  • Jwalkerjr88: If i traded all my picks to a division rival in a rebuild and he beat me in the title game with Desmond ridder or lose undefeated. Its all a loss at the end of the day

  • Daddy: I wasnt a genius signing Kuechel. I was just filling an empty spot. I got rewarded with the best pitcher in baseball for a few seasons.

  • Braves155: I love it when one of your Dynasty teams you've been rebuilding starts showing up and being competitive early in the season. Especially in baseball

  • Brent: Agreed.  I'm decent at building, but I need to get better st winning.  I did win an offsite 32-team football league, it only took me 1.5 season to rebuild and win.
  • Daddy: Thats what you should be doing @Brent. LIVE sharpens those skills so you can go elsewhere and dominate unsuspecting leagues.
