I have a couple concerns with this and I also am not a fan of alot of change and it seems like we have had alot lately. What happens when we have a full 25 man NHL team a Full "AHL" team and a player in the "ECHL" hits 40 games and needs a contract do we automatically lose him or have to buy a player out to keep him?? I also am worried that having such deep minors that some people will have players in their "ECHL" team that dont even play hockey anymore. I think that the best option for the league is not to try and compete with the baseball leagues as baseball has way more prospects and more teams in their leagues if this was a 24-30 team league I would be all for this as it would make more sense. I think we should go back to 3 draft picks and at most expand the minor league rosters by 5-10 but keep the cap low it adds room for more N/C's but doesn't go crazy and add 6000 spots like this would. Another concern I have is that if we do this we will have a huge influx of NHL players on the last year of their contract be sent down to the minors as there would be more roster room to do so. My last concern is the dispairity that this will create for people that don't know prospects as well as some of us that know every prospect.

My vote is to cut 2draft picks and expanded the minors by 5-10 spots not big just enough to add the depth you are looking for but not too go crazy

:iatp:  or if we do go with 2 minor teams. 25 major/15 minor/10 others with no contract. IMO

30 might be a crazy number, but I feel that the N/C team should be bigger than the contracted minor team if we do it this way.

I also say we should cut back on the number of draft picks to help facilitate this potential change, but we should have 4 picks instead of 5. I think 3 is not enough. 4 will potentially get us into the first half of the third round in the real NHL draft. But with all the hockey knowledge in the league, 4 picks might only be good for two rounds.

There has been quite a few changes but it keeps activity up and trying to keep everything correct and corresponding as closely with the actual NHL.

Here is what I think:
- I like the 2 minor league teams, it is easy to manage for me because those N/C players can be stored away
- We cut it down to 4 draft picks after this season's entry draft
- We split into 2 - 15 players limits. One for contracted players, one for N/C players. Our current limit is 20 players so this would be 30 players total
- Maintain a $15m cap in minors
- Any player signed to a contract is moved to AHL unless called straight up to NHL. Any player that hits 40 games is signed and brought up to majors, if no room then player is released.

What about this?

I really don't like the last point and think thats where we will have problems when we have 2 minor league teams. I know I would be mad if my 1st round pick got release cause there was no room on my NHL roster

I understand that but don't we have that problem now as well if someone leaves a player there for 40 games without a contract?

I guess we actually have a bigger problem right now that if a player hits 40 games he is automatically signed and placed in the majors, so if a team is at the full 25 that will have an invalid roster and possibly lose a week because of it.

Sign players to two-way contract right after they are drafted. Just like what is done in Vintage NHL.
