Official FGM '10 Entry Draft Tracker
« on: August 03, 2010, 11:55:51 AM »
The annual entry draft starts on September 15th at 12:00 PM EST.  Entry Draft will only have players who are eligible for the real life MLB Entry Draft.  Each GM will be given a maximum of eight hours to make their pick.  Once you make your pick, the eight hour clock starts for the next GM.  If you do not pick within that time frame then the following will happen.

If you had supplied the EC with a pre-rankings list, then the best available player from such a list will be taken.  If a team is not present for the draft / times out, and did not provide a proxy pick, they'll be awarded the next highest ranked player that they can afford.  The default list of players will be provided by Baseball America: http://www.baseballamerica.com/today/draft/draft-preview/2010/2610039.html

This list will be used for the signing bonuses, as all signing bonuses, are tied to the players in this list.  Therefore, if the Mets, with the 1st pick, decide to pass on Bryce Harper and go for Manny Manchado (3rd on list) then the signing bonus will be $5m.

Ranking on List - Signing Bonus
1 - 7.0M
2 - 6.0M
3 - 5.0M
4 - 4.0M
5 and 6 - 3.5M
7 and 8 - 3.0M
9 thru 12 - 2.5M
13 thru 17 - 2.0M
18 thru 31 - 1.5M
32 thru 46 - 1.0M
47 thru 64 - 0.5M
all picks from 65 on require no signing bonus

Full details on the rules of the draft and the EDR can be found here: http://www.profsl.com/smf/index.php?topic=30  Remember, the EDR is at 10 players for this draft.  It does not expand to 15 players until the 2011 season.  Also, this draft, is still considered to be a part of the 2010 season, so your books have not closed.  You will need to clear the necessary cap space before a player is signed.  Base salaries ($500k) do not count toward the salary cap; only signing bonuses count towards the cap.  However, base salaries do count against the cap if you chose to put some draft picks onto your 40-man roster (do not have room on your EDR); they are treated like any other prospect signed via FA.

1.1 Bryce Harper - OF - Was (n/a, .5M)

Based on the Baseball America rankings the #1 rank and $7M signing bonus.

"The Mets organization is pleased to make Bryce the first pick in the draft. He is an important piece as we build towards the goal of fielding a competitive team year after year. Negotiations were intense but we are happy to get him signed and look forward to many years of productivity." - Mets Franchise GM owner

I can't get to the board during the day so I decided to submit the selection now.

Sorry, I was unable to access a computer.
With our 3rd pick of the 1st round, the Marlins would like to select Zack Cox, 3b, Arkansas. Thanks!

Colby made a pick for you, that's why we had proxy lists as an option...

Can we merge these two threads?

I would normally allow this but I have to stick to my guns with the proxy picks or else a draft like this will take forever.  Sorry about that one hank... Anyone can feel free to send me a huge pre-ranking list if they like.

  • Daddy: You can build a dominant team without dominating every trade or even any trade. Doesn't matter what you give up if you get what you see as a key piece.
  • Daddy: Edmonton and LA are the leaders for my picks. LA unfortunately has no GM and by the time one sacs up im going to probably have dealt.

  • Jwalkerjr88: Yup, sometimes people dont see the vision. Sometimes the vision Fricks up. You dont know till the chips are cashed in

  • Jwalkerjr88: I once traded a full draft class 1-7, an additional 1st, 3 offensive flyer players for what player you might ask?
  • Jwalkerjr88: WR Jalen Reagor lmaaooo
  • Jwalkerjr88: And won my first chip that same season. Reagor starting in the flex scoring 9 points
    Yesterday at 10:14:39 PM
  • jmntl82: How did the other team finish?
  • Jwalkerjr88: It was dallas. I think he missed the playoffs that year. Then used the draft picks on the 2021 class. Every pick was the 32nd pick (dont remembee what the other 1st became)
  • Jwalkerjr88: Idk if anyone remembers the 2021 class but it was weak on offense outside or the top 10-15. I dont regret the deal just learned and move on. As long as you have assets, you can mold your build how you want. Picks are usually the most valuable asset because most gms want in on a draft.
  • Jwalkerjr88: The results of that draft class is here [link]
  • Jwalkerjr88: Every 32 overall pick dallas makes in each round came from that trade
    Yesterday at 10:20:54 PM
  • Jwalkerjr88: The 2024 and 2025 classes look much more promising than that one lol
    Yesterday at 10:22:06 PM
  • BayAreaBallers: 2021 draft class was my worst class as a NFL Live gm. my 2022 and 2023 were better
    Yesterday at 10:32:52 PM
  • Jwalkerjr88: I think it was the worst for most of us. It was a bad class overall. The top was amazing tho
    Yesterday at 10:42:05 PM
  • jimw: Etienne is amazing. He was near the top of that draft lol
    Yesterday at 11:18:42 PM
  • Brent: I got Nico Collins at 26.
